Just finished watching the Family Edited version of the 1998 Lost In Space movie w/VHS HiFi DPL2 movie (it was only released this way on VHS - only 1 word was changed).

Quite a lot of surround sound action, IMHO, the LiS movie would be a good candidate for a UHD Blu-ray w/Atmos remix too.

The REAL beauty of those KL sales is they're NOT ONLY ADDICTIVE enabling one to splurge on classic cinema at bargain prices but splurge on the guiltiest of pleasures. And another valuable lesson ..... if you peruse the ENTIRE 130 pages of their current sales items, you will discover very current releases [including 4K] at similar bargain prices well below the Amazons and Deep Discount/ImportCD prices!

Well, I did it again....on top of those 4 UHD4K titles, added another 13 items including THREE in 3D including Jean~Luc Godard's GOODBYE TO LANGUAGE, another UHD4K: TINKER TAILOR SOLDIER SPY, some 60's, early 70's British cinema BUTLEY, Harold Pinter's IN CELEBRATION both with Alan Bates, THE ROMANTIC ENGLISHWOMAN with Glenda Jackson, the classic Indian flick SALAAM BOMBAY, from South Korea THIRST, from Germany the remake of BERLIN ALEXANDERPLATZ, a classic from the 60's directed by Adolfas Mekas HALLELUJAH THE HILLS and a guilty pleasure NIGHTMARE CINEMA consisting of 5 horror tales from 5 diverse directors including Joe Dante and WASHINGTON SQUARE with Jennifer Jason Leigh based on the Henry James Novel [only $4.99 for the BD~V]

Thanks again to timothyperson for the sales info and I do hope you ALL enjoy your latest KL acquisitions. I know I WILL!

THE END

[yeah, right!!!!]

I don't know whether to thank you or curse you. (Thank, obviously!)

I ended up not getting any UHD releases. I originally had about 20 or so movies in my cart, and figured I'd whittle it down from there, but decided instead to invest in the Fritz Lang Silent Films box set; after a coupon, it was $90. Plus Barton Fink, The Stranger, and Run Silent, Run Deep.

I browsed through the sale items just to see what caught my eye. A lot of good stuff, and a lot of schlock. And I mean that in the best way. I like some schlock; in my case, I tend to favor 70's schlock (and I certainly lingered over some of the Jess Franco "masterpieces" for a bit longer than I care to admit), but the Lang box made me toss them all. I got a $100 gift card today from my boss, and I got it maybe 10 minutes before I read the post about the sale, so that was absolutely fate.

The fiction that I would stay within the amount of the gift card, of course, evaporated quickly.
Happy to help! Your boss gives you gifts and the gifts are actually good? Lucky!

Of course the BIG news from last night's Academy Awards Ceremony:

With thousands being slaughtered in Europe, Hollywood is consumed by a playground fight between two dim witted ‘celebrities’. Those dying in the bunkers in Ukraine must have been horrified by the spectacle of one ***** slapping another. Oh… but of course they couldn’t watch it as they don’t have homes, or TV or electricity.

Another first for the awards.
Nothing done about this assault. But if the skin color had been different the woke police would roll into action
A really tasteless joke at a wonans expense and a man defending his wifes honor in an uncivilized manner.

I dread this world that my son is growing up in.

We are ALL certainly aware of the bombastic atrocities being perpetrated in UKRAINE and there were MANY allusions to that on last night's Academy Awards Broadcast but LIFE GOES ON as there are atrocities, as we speak, ALL OVER THE WORLD. Because of COVID which, as we all know, has NOT suddenly evaporated [China is currently in LOCKDOWN], celebrating with a bit of joviality as in last night's presentation isn't a bad thing but of course was marred by a vapid altercation between two grown men which most unfortunately was broadcast to the world.

There were MANY adds interspersed in last night's broadcast on how to aid Ukraine with monetary aid and many of the presenters and acceptance speeches pointed to Ukraine's dire needs.

In these horrific times, a little bit of celebration is certainly in order but one cannot expect the entire world's population to stop going on with their own lives as denizens of the world certainly didn't do so during the massive atrocities endured during World War II.

My point wasn’t concern that there was an Oscar ceremony per se (although it’s not something I’ve ever had any interest in as I’ve rarely heard of most of those involved). But was rather anger that, subsequently, a proportion of the news media became obsessed with a trivial, stupid event on stage as if it really mattered - at a time when there were much more important things going on in the world. I just thought the juxtaposition was pitiful.

At this juncture, the world is coming together to do as much as they conceivably can for Ukraine so, yes, the news today deviated a bit by reporting a stupid, silly thing which happened at an awards event in Hollywood USA.....but as a news junkie who watches all the dreary news broadcast every day, consider it a diversion.....and nothing more!

I'll just say this. It's no more silly than getting riled up over a bad surround mix. So are we supposed to shelve trivial concerns for the duration of this war... and the next.... and the next.
