Criterion announces its January 2024 slate of new releases including Trainspotting, Blood Simple and John Sayles' LONE STAR in Native UHD4K

https://www.blu-ray.com/news/?id=33414

Lone Star is a perennial favorite, hard to believe it's going on 30 years ago, happy to see it restored and preserved, all be it in stereo.

Criterion 24-hour 50% flash sale just started.
For in-stock items, I highly recommend EO for under $15 for a refreshing change of pace.

Moonage Daydream Double blu ray $25.

Yep, Lone Star's a goodie and definitely worth a look along with all of John Sayles' flicks. I saw it at the theatre and possibly on DVD years ago so looking forward to another viewing if I can get the 4K cheap.

What I love about the streaming channels is the diversity of worldwide films which occasionally grace these channels and last night I watched an incredible film from India which featured the late British actor Julian Sands entitled Yeh Ballet. Netflix presented it in 4K/Dolby Vision with an immersive 5.1 soundtrack and in its two hour runtime I didn't detect a bit of filler. Based on real events! Very Highly Recommended!

I ordered EO, Y Tu Mama Tambien, Thelma & Louis, For All Mankind, and Two Lane Blacktop $108.00 free shipping.
Wow, thanks for the heads up! :bowing:

Put Two Lane Blacktop in my shopping cart & discovered I had $20 in unused gift certificates from my Criterion Channel membership.
Less than ten bucks delivered for this all-time favorite from my senior year in high school.

Physical media with extras for the price of renting a lower-res stream.
"Holding the film in your hands" to coin a phrase. ;)

Finally had the chance to watch Warner's Native UHD4K transfer of William Friedkin's THE EXORCIST ...The Extended Edition [UNCUT]! IMO, Warner did a brilliant job in restoring this film in HDR10 and repurposing the soundtrack for Dolby ATMOS [I listened in 5.1].

Although over the years it has lost some of its fear factor watching Linda Blair walk 'spider like' down the staircase still packs a whallop! Eerie as HELL!

Highly recommended to fans of the film

Mad LOVE to @~dave~~wave~ for recommending this one! Striking images and wonderful cinematography throughout. The 5.1 DTS-HD soundtrack really shines! Great use of the soundscape with the evocative soundtrack and the diegetic sounds, placing me right in the midst of the action. A really top-notch surround experience and a moving film that took me on quite a journey! Highly recommended!
