'Birdman' is actually quite interesting from a sound point of view - visually it is presented as a single continuous shot with constant motion - and the audio matches that surround movement brilliantly. Similarly 'Gravity' uses the same single shot technique but in space - both great pieces of film-making in my opinion....

All these mentions of the film reminded me of a booze-cruise trip to France on the ferry (many moons ago when I had hair!). We got one of the girls in our group to ask the boats reception desk to request that "would Mr C. Aligula please go down to his vehicle as his horse misses him", we also got them announcing if anybody had seen Mike Hunt - oh the fun of being young :sneaky:

When I was a pediatric intern we had the overnight page operators in the hospital go on the overhead system and page “Dr. Fine, Dr. Howard, Dr. Fine.”

Herby Hind.

I happened upon the "live action" (I inserted quotes because I think only the boy was live) 2016 version of The Jungle Book the other day and was pleasantly surprised at how discrete the separation of sound was in this film, especially broadcast on ABC. Lots of bird and insect noise all over. The big snake confusing the boy with her voice coming from here and there was especially impressive.

Sorry, it can’t be all formats without 3D.
AFAIK, barfle, NONE of those titles were ever released in REAL or UPCONVERTED 3D. Paramount also released 3 more titles: Cloverfield [the original], A QUIET PLACE AND BEVERLY HILLS COP [1] all $10.99!

I watched ESCAPE FROM LA [Native UHD4K] last night and while it doesn't compare to the original ESCAPE FROM NEW YORK it's still a wildly enjoyable flick with an astounding discrete immersive 5.1 DTS~HD MA heart~pounding soundtrack. Picture was exquisite. Well worth revisiting, IMO!
