More options agrees the bass player! No rules just right.
The subwoofer was the last speaker I purchased for my system and for a while I debated whether I needed one. After listening to 5.1 for about 5 years now, I really feel it takes a subwoofer to lay down that base for the sound structure. I know I sure miss it on the albums that don't have the LFE channel.
Anyway I know dave gets bored easily, so it's best we move this LFE geekery now and use this thread to talk about KC discs that haven't come out yet.
My post to this effect back in #259 seems to have been left forlorn and unanswered.
Yes, the other reason is because we've been there before in this thread (look here). There is not much more we could say about it before we hear those mixes.[, ..] it's best we move this LFE geekery now [..]
In about 7 weeks I will recieve a Burning Shed post containing King Crimson - Red as a DVD- Audio release with extras. Damn!
Back on top(ic)......
Amazon UK has put preorder at 11.98 but doesn't specify that it's DVD-A. I will stick with BurningShed for all albums. Let's see if the next two will be available soon...
On the upcoming DVD-A of Red , the song Journey to the Centre of the Cosmos is taken from the Providence gig.
As expected, but I was hoping it would have been an unreleased studio version , maybe with Ian McDonald.
Here is some more information from steve wilson on working on KC project:

I think that the version of "Providence" on TGD , while historically interesting, does goes on about 2.5 minutes too long : I agree with the edit on Red ...IMHO
re: A Journey to the Centre of the Cosmos: while it is listed as an improve on the TGD box set, it is actually introduced by title as a work in progress. I am sure there are parts that are structured and improvised.
Looking at the set lists available on http://www.geocities.com/kcrimsonlive/kclive32/index.htm I see that " A Journey" was first listed on 3/29/74 and possibly one or two more times prior to the Providence gig on 6/30/74.
I have not heard these earlier performances, they may be " A Journey" in name only
And to these ears, the opening movements of A Journey is very similar in structure ( but a different key?) to the improve "Asbury Park."
Were the live tracks from Red available from a multi track or just a stereo source?
