I was asking in another thread how to rip a 5.1 audio DVD into 6 audio files, but haven't gotten an answer.

Audio DVD or DVD-Audio?
those are two different formats. ADVD is just regular DVD with single usefull directory Video_TS,
but instead of video, contains audio only streams such like stereo, DTS and DD.
DVDA (usually hybrid) contains 2 directories, Audio_TS and Video_TS. last one contains same stuff,
as ADVD, but additionaly do have HiRez surround and stereo streams in Audio_TS folder.
my guess that you're interested in DVD-Audio. if so, then to rip HiRez tracks from Audio_TS, you need
foobar2000 with foo_input_dvda component or DVDA Explorer. both are freeware.

I walked into a goodwill just the other day and on the shelf was a pioneer CTF 1250 cassette deck that looked like it just came out of the box. After checking to see that it played, I bought it ($24) then took it to the audio shop for new belts and some TLC. I am Listening to it right now. I always wanted one of these, but could not afford it back in the day. By the way, i have collected some really cool cassettes. One I just listened to was Steve Miller... living in the 20th century. You can see both reels of tape all the way across as it plays and the pressure pad area is frosted..really looks cool and the sound is super!. Well, gotta go, those Teac CRC 60 cassette reels are calling my name

Panasonic 4 Channel Balancer and SH-3400 4 Channel Control Center and the SH-3433 Scope. The balancer has a plastic body and it can be plugged into the scope and control center and Panasonics 4 channel receivers.

Emotiva XPA-3 - should drive my front channels nicely.....

Added this combo platter for those late night listening sessions, so as not to wake up the rest of the household.

My latest is a Technics SL1600, which was the last piece I needed to get on board with quad, It rounds out a CD4 setup: JVC 4DD-5 demod, and a AT12S cartridge.
This my first real quad gear. I have had surround dvd audio for years, but now I can finally play my Frank Zappa Apostrophe(') Quadradisc LP.
My demod was a new in box unit that I expected to have to re-cap, So far (crossing fingers) it works great.

Panasonic SU-3404 amplifier in very nice shape. It does have a few minor scrapes to the cabinet which need some touching up. At least everything is there.

For headphone listening in the bedroom: a Numark EQ2310 graphic equalizer. I've no idea what a factory-shipped piece would have been worth, but I paid $4 at a thrift store, though (and this is something Numark is notorious for, I guess) it only had a few of the plastic knobs left. Me, I don't care, the sound is what matters, and an equalizer is essential even when you have good cans, depending on how the ears and brain want to hear something.

For giggles, here's an eBay listing, check out the price: http://articulo.mercadolibre.com.ar/MLA-461297888-ecualizador-numark-modelo-eq2310-_JM

A tad on the dusty side, but it DOES have all its knobs, which I suppose explains why I got mine so cheap, heh.

Just had delivered a Yamaha DSL-01 (£15, not true quad, I know; using my tablet as the remote, as the one I bought didn't have one) and an Akai 1800 SS is on the way. Waiting for information on a 15/30 ips capstan sleeve to go with it. That can go through my old SQ unit later on.

Need to get the bugger installed now....

My 1800-ss has arrived (4 track recording and quad 8-track tape slot, too). Sadly the right front line pot needs a little cleaning and drops the track, so that's a job to do. Looks cool, though. Might have some computer technomancy to go with it soon so that I can edit and record onto tape from a range of sources. :51banana: (shouldn't we have 4.0 banana?)

I will shove some pic's up soon.

JVC 8 track player on its trail run. It worked but I didnt have it hooked up properly. I used headphones and it didnt eat the tape. I will try a quad tpae next. Johnny Horton sounded pretty good. I think he will sound better when the deck gets a good cleaning.

Remember, it's far, far, far less likely that a tape will get "eaten" because of a problem with the player. Probably 99.9% of "eaten" tapes are because the tape owner did not replace the foil spice. The adhesive on those foil splices turns to dust and will fall off the first time it passes the head, the tape will come unravelled and wind around the capstan post, ruining the tape. So, be sure all your tapes are rebuilt prior to trying them out in your player.

Very important advice.

It is VERY important to keep the player capstan clean because what happens is lubricant and dirt eventually build up on it and it creates a sticky film. The tape then sticks to that film and wraps around the capstan and the tape "gets eaten".

If the capstan is clean and the sensor foil breaks, the tape will usually just sit there and not progress.

If there are other assemblies around the capstan like a tape stripper, etc. keep those clean too.

I was surprised the foil tape didnt break on Johnny Thorton's 8 track. I had planned on rebuilding the 8 tracks I have but havent done that yet. I threw my 8 tracks away except one in Jan 1990 when I moved to Florida. I buy them now when I see them at TS's and ebay.

JVC 4ED-1205 is in very good condition inside and out. Thanks for the advice on the capstan. I couldn't see the tape path well because I did want to clean everything and do a visual inspection. I have to open it up again to change the belts, take some photos. I may remove some parts to get access and see the tape path.

The quad tape was rebuilt according to the seller and it did change tracks. I had never seen this JVC model before. It's always nice when it works.

Marantz 4230 Quadradial receiver was also on its trail run. I still have to change some lamps and maybe deoxit some of the pots again. The cd's are software cds from work that I use for reflective purposes. We get so many of them with new equipment. I take the case and use them for music cd's.

I grew up with vinyl and treat cd's the same way. The first time my daughter wanted to use my cd's I gave her a lesson in handling them. I didnt want to see them stacked like you see here.

DirecTV Genie DVR
5 HD tuners and it networks all 3 HD DVR's in my home. 1 terabyte hard drive, 100 hour HD capacity, picture in picture, unified play list for all 3 HD DVR's, and RF remote. My satellite system now has a total capacity of 2 terabytes, 200 hours of HD recordings, and has 9 HD tuners.

"The Battle of New Orleans" was one of my most played records when I was a kid. So much so that it was one of the ones (along with Big Bad John, PT 109, Itsy Bitsy, Teeny Weeny..., Leichtensteiner Polka, and Purple People Eater), about which the rest of the family teased me.

My mother had a Sheltie named Tera (actually Tara) but she didn't byte...er...bite.
