John Bottomley - Star in the Singing Grove
One of the most talented artists I’ve ever encountered. Yet few have heard of him.
He had one hit up here in Canada and won a Juno Award.
This is actually a book, written and all art work created by John, that’s a bit hard to describe. Whimsical. A bit Hobbit-like maybe?
Accompanied by two CDs with songs meant to be inserted at specific points while reading the book. But the music stands tall on it’s own. Like a normal collection of great songs, not a soundtrack. Excellent Excellent

Finally digging into this box set starting with:

Lee Michaels - Carnival of Life

Pretty amazing debut for a 22 year old newcomer. The sound is definitely 1967 but that’s OK.
Really good album

Lee Michaels - Recital

Wow, no sophomore slump here.
Great album, great songs & singing.
The sound quality is significantly better than the debut.
The box set has been sitting on my shelf for probably 5 years.
Can’t believe it took me this long to experience his music (other than the hit, of course)

naysay what you want to say. MQA discs - whether decoded or not - are amazing.

Each sampler comes with 2 discs: 1 is a UHQCD MQA~encoded with the green ink overlay and the other a Japanese pressed RBCD [for comparison]. I've played the MQA~CDs decoded [on my OPPO 205] and Unencoded on an older OPPO and the mastering as to be expected is pretty darn good. If you want to try it for yourself, I notice that AmazonUS has ONE more Jazz Sampler left in stock and they're blowing it out for $11.99 [I JUST paid $16.99 last week].

Lee Michaels - Barrel

Sorry if I sound like a broken record.
Yet another great Lee Michaels album.
He really cranked out a lot of amazing music in a short period of time. Everything about it is so early 70’s, in a good way.

Saw Lee Michaels Band way back when...opened for GFR on their "American Band" tour...

Van der Graaf Generator - Real Time (Royal Festival Hall, May 6, 2005)

Flew to London for this show, one of the best shows I've ever been to in all my years...after show party with the band...doesn't get any better

Idlewild - 100 Broken Windows (2001 Odeon / EMI / Capitol Records)

I only have one CD by this Scottish band from Edinburgh. They were formed in 1995. I haven’t played it in over 15 years. I’m not sure why...it is so good.
