And Beck , The Flaming lips, Mudhoney, Tom Waits, also there is a Beck cover of the incredible song Diana
but it is not on the More Oar LP's, but Becks cover version is fantastic

Elton John - Madman Across the Water

50th Anniversary box set.
The piano demos on disc 2 are good as is the live in a TV studio material on disc 3.
The TV material is also on the Bluray. I’ve never seen it before, a real treat.
The rest I have elsewhere but still nice to have it all in one place.
Beautiful packaging and the book may be the best I’ve ever seen in a box set.

Beckology

Celebrating the life and times of Jeff Beck today.

That’s such a great set. Nice mix of released and unreleased material, and a fantastic overview of his career to that point. Plus some creativity with the "guitar case” box. I didn’t have many box sets at that point and it kind of spoiled me as I figured every box set should be of this quality.

My USPS Informed Delivery e-mail told me a had a package arriving from the U.K. today. But I couldn’t remember what I had bought that was due now and hadn’t received any sort of shipping notice.

Turns out it was the reissue of Hackett’s Tokyo Tapes from Cherry Red. I have an iTunes download from long ago, and I have the DVD I bought (after renting it when Netflix used to mail DVDs.) But I wanted a physical CD version.

This new one is remastered, but I haven’t had a chance to go back and listen to the iTunes version I have to see if there’s a huge difference. For now, just enjoying it. This was my first introduction to Hackett’s music.

Tangerine Dream - In Search of Hades

Time to dive into this one, all 18 discs, starting with:

Phaedra

The main album in 24/96 LPCM on Blu-ray followed by two CDs of outakes. Though not the type of music I typically listen to, I enjoyed most of it.

Off topic, I know, but how else can I spread the wealth?

Netflix still has subscriptions to mailed DVDs.

Thanks for the correction. I would have lost money if I had bet on whether or not they still sent out DVDs. I used to use the DVD mailings to explore concerts or bands I was kind of interested in. I had rented Dream Theater’s Score which was my first real exposure to them (other than when Pull Me Under was popular) and found I really loved the band.

Wanted to wait to listen to this one until the house cleared out this evening so I could crank it without interruption.

I think I mentioned in the RIP thread that There & Back is not only my favorite Jeff Beck album, but one of my favorite albums period. To me, all eight songs are perfect.

I’ve always hoped this album would get the MoFi SACD treatment but it seems to get a bit lost (along with Flash) between Blow By Blow and Wired on one side, and Guitar Shop on the other. So I don’t imagine any company, much-less MoFi, is clamoring to do something special with this one.

It said Yardbirds on it; so I stole it! Actually I paid $27 for it; but still feel like I stole it. I was leaving a record show and spied it. He wanted $50 and I told him I only had $27 left. Great early Clapton along with the Beck tunes. The booklet has some cool stories. And a t-shirt and pin!
