Yes, I saw your review. You gave it a 9.@:

I am very familar with the 1/3 of Quadrophenia that was released already in 5.1. And it was a 10. So the complete release is:
10 plus Lupins! Don't you Germans understand basic math?(y)

@FredBlue: See how I am ridiculed on a daily basis??? This silly sod gave my top 3, best of all time recording a BLOODY NINE!

Geesh!

iMachine did what..?!?!? :yikes

Schnell schnell achtung kutoffelkopf swinehund!!! :flame :ugham:

I know when to give 10...for the german football national team.
Yeeeeeeessssssssss! :).

it was cute to see Angela Merkel looking so coy and bashful in amongst all those burly men in the team! I wonder if she got to sponge them down in the showers afterwards or pass round the half-time oranges! HA! :p

It makes me sad to hear you were bullied for your musical preference, DMJ :( Nobody has the right to bash anyone's musical taste! That said, two wrongs don't make a right and I'm pleased to hear you're calling a truce with the Talking Heads and the XTC-ers! Life's a rich tapestry and there's similarly a world of diversity in music enough to go round for everyone. I'm not keen on rap for example but others are into it and that's great and I'm genuinely happy for them. Each to his own and to hell with anyone who doesn't respect you and your taste in music. This world is music you just gotta listen :wave

M8, nothing like being a prog fan when it comes to abuse. Most folks can't handle all the diversity in one place so they dismiss it out right but not before labeling it as:

Pompous, pretentious, over complicated, stupid, confusing, long winded. I've heard all that for decades.

Just received Queen A Night At The OperaHFPA BD-A. WOW! I have owned some version of this album since it was first released on vinyl (think that's still laying around here too) and I must say this is like hearing it for the first time. I swear there's some bits and pieces I never noticed before. Excellent separation of instruments and voices and great use of 5.1 channels. Love it!

This is a trick post right? You are trying to draw me out and say something like Talking Heads are for
elevator repair technicians or for Kindergarden music classes...

Well no, I will not fall for that old trick. I won't utter a bloody word. ;)

I will say I've been playing the 2013 live Quadrophenia three times while I wait for my 1973 5.1 bluray from UMG England...

Weak. I barely cracked a smile. You're better than this DMJ. You know it. I know it.@:

Moi??? I didn't say anything!!! :howl PK was trying to trick me like he always does but I am wise to his trickery.

No more Talking Heads bashing from me.(y) The TH crowd are of one tough Hombre. The only gang more dangerous are the XTC fan-boy set. I'll have nothing to do with either lot. Regular ruffians they are.

Much better. Now you're bringin' it strong (y)

Pioneer Elite SC77. Haven't tried the Neo setting, does it do,the same thing? What is the difference?

as far as i can tell it's very similar...sometimes i like it better...other times i can't hear any difference!

EDIT..ok had to look it up...

"DTS Neo:6, like Dolby's Pro Logic IIx system, can take stereo content and convert the sound into 5.1 or 6.1 channel format, but in a 7.1 configuration, the two rear-center speakers play in mono. Unlike Dolby Pro Logic II's broadband logic steering, Neo:6 is a multi-band decoder, meaning that the decoder can enhance more than one predominant signal at a time — provided each predominant signal lies in a different frequency band than the others. The number of bands steered varies in each Neo:6 implementation, with the first decoders steering in 12 separate bands and later units steering up to 19."

I have Neo:X Music (as well as cinema, etc); Dolby PLII Music(as well as movie, etc.); Dolby Pro Logic; & Neo:X Music + THX (as well as movie, etc.) to process pseudosurround on my receiver. I am not sure if one is better than another, so will have to listen to well known music and evaluate. Thanks for info. I never used these before to simulate surround, but from what I have heard somfar, I really like it.

in my experience PLII has much more front to back separation than DTS Neo. DTS Neo keeps everything up front in front L & R and then uses the rears as accents, whereas PLII really steers stuff around. Plus PLII Music is much more customisable than the others, you can make adjustments for centre channel imaging width (or shut it off altogether, which I prefer), Panorama which doubles up front stereo info into the rears (which I don't recommend long term but it's a cool effect to play around with and helps recordings without much "OOPS" going on) and Dimension which let's you skew the effect more from front to back or vice versa. I love PLII Music, when it works out (things like Stevie Wonder with lots of out of phase info, etc.) it can be almost Quad like! well not quite but it's pretty impressive what it does with 2-channel programes :p

I'll reply by passing on what the late Rodney Dangerfield told me(and the group I was with) back in the very late 1980s.

True story:

A group of us were at the Improv on Melrose in West Hollywood one night. At two in the morning, a tattered & ragged Rodney Dangerfield surprisingly came on stage for an unscheduled appearance. He was trying to resume his career and did a routine that was rusty & boring frankly. The crowd let him know that and became restless and began to heckle Rodney, well..

Rodney told us:

"Hey!... uh.. you think I will give you people my best material?!?!

Oh and also... it helps if the audience participates once in a while. You should pay particular attention when you read in one of my posts the letters "PK". (y)

Sorry m8, I am grumpy-grumpy while I wait for my 5.1 of Quadrophenia. UMG sez it was shipped June 10...

@FredBlue: I've never found a use for the older matrix sorround settings like you talked about. Whenever I use them to expand a 2.0 recording I always want to go back to 2.0. I find the lack of dynamic range expansion kinda boring. Its just the same thing coming out of more speakers and of course the stereo mix is all screwed up.
