They're a little bit funny.. :D

(You just know what I'm going to say next..)

IF ONLY UNIVERSAL WOULD GET THEIR ACT TOGETHER AND FINALLY RELEASE THE GREG PENNY 5.1 REMIXES OF DON'T SHOOT ME I'M ONLY THE PIANO PLAYER, CARIBOU, ROCK OF THE WESTIES, HERE AND THERE AND BLUE MOVES THAT THEY HAVE BEEN SITTING ON THE LAST 10+ €¥|<|#$ YEARS... (YES I'M SHOUTING..!!!!!) :flame

From what I can see, Universal no longer does SACD at all. All their stuff is probably out of print on SACD.

I don't think "Here & There" is amongst those unreleased 5.1 mixes, but the others you mentioned are certainly there, ready to go, and need to be released ASAP, so yes, RABBLE RABBLE RABBLE!!!

Adam never said anything about Universal needing to release them specifically on SACD though.
All of those unreleased Elton John 5.1 mixes (plus the other 5 that were released) would be prime candidates (like "Goodbye Yellow Brick Road") for release as part of their HFPA Blu-Ray series.
But I agree with you, in that hell will probably freeze over before Universal (or Sony) will begin releasing SACDs again themselves (without the help of Specialty labels)

I'm on me QUAD HOLIDAY!
Party time! :woopie:
Hooray! :wave

Ahem..

Disc 1 of The McCartney Years.

Hearing Heart Of The Country makes me wish a Quad had been done for Ram. As much as I think the Mono mix is the definitive one for the album, I'd love an ole Quad of it. At least there's Band On The Run.

Just realized that McCartney invited a Dalek to sing on Goodnight Tonight... ;)

Thanks RT! You're a pal (not an ntsc) :upthumb

I can't believe Universal have been so STUPID as to miss the opportunity with all these 5.1 EJ's they've had in the can for over a decade to make a big splash of them on their HFPA format.. but I have a hunch.. once the Beatles 1+ 5.1's are out and hugely well received I think you will see some industry reaction.. just a hunch (call me Quad-y-modo)

Just finished The Doors' Morrison Hotel AP SACD and following that with the absolutely fantastic AF Quad SACD of Best Of The Doors. :)

Up to Madman Across The Water. Loving that one so much!

I have to admit it. I'm enjoying the Elton John SACDs I own so much that I've added Tumbleweed Connection, Goodbye Yellow Brick Road and Captain Fantastic And The Brown Dirt Cowboy to my want list.

I wish we could have Don't Let The Sun Go Down On Me in Multichannel. I'm dying to hear those luscious Beach Boys harmonies in Surround.

You definitely will not be disappointed with Tumbleweed, GYBR, and Captain Fantastic as they all sound amazing.
As for "Don't Let the Sun Go Down On Me", it does exist in surround. It's just never been released, so once again, RABBLE RABBLE RABBLE!!!

Will you get the SACD version or the blu ray version of GYBR...I would recommend the blu ray version...

OK, let me get this straight. The Multichannel mix is also available on Blu-Ray? Are there sonic benefits to getting the Blu over the SACD? I ask because I love being able to program only the tracks on the SACD whereas I doubt I could do this with the Blu. Is the Blu as bright sounding as the SACD?

Playing now:

Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds - Nocturama (DVD-V)

I know this album is dissed by Cave fans but I actually like it quite a bit.

Ahh.. Captain Fantastic (its my QQ avatar, donchyaknow.. ) .. a stunning album given superb surround treatment. I would make that the next EJ SACD you get Simon ;) but don't let me put you off the Tumbleweed SACD, it's great too in surround, excellent in fact.. but the 72-76 phase of his career is for me really something special and to think that everything he did in that timeframe at his absolute pinnacle has been remixed in surround and we've only ever heard less than 50% of it is bordering on the criminal (have mercy!).. take 1974's "Caribou" album, probably the weakest of his output from his peak but it still has The Bitch Is Back, Ticking, Don't Let The Sun.. plus Greg Penny had remixed several nice extras into surround for the cancelled SACD, including Cold Highway, Sick City, Step Into Christmas, the previously unreleased "Ducktail Jiver" and Pinball Wizard. Oh I could weep..
