Enjoy! Let me know what you think. I'm not familiar with that album at all.

I'm really impressed with the content of this album...it's an album that wasn't designed to produce hits..it's a mature artist at the height of his craft...it's so well balanced...by that I mean there aren't any "filler" songs...you know what I mean...those songs that seem to be included just to fill up an album...this is not the 70's EJ out to prove he belongs...it's the mature EJ that knows he belongs with the best in his profession...not a bad song in the bunch..and I can't believe I'm saying that after just one listen...you can look at this album 2 ways...the critic would say that all the songs sound the same...for those that love the album they would point out that it's even...no peaks and valleys...they all sound good...and that's the way I feel...if you like EJ and don't have this disc...I would recommend it..

There is a used Peachtree Road on Amerzon right now for $14, in case anybody wants to take the gamble.
Not sure what the seller means by "different case" and there is no telling if they know what an SACD is and have it listed correctly. Maybe different case means it is an SACD... lol

There are bargains to be found if you look around enough and are patient...I bought the Peachtree SACD for(drum roll)$5.56 +$3.99 shipping...it was listed as very good condition...but it looks brand new..not a crack on the case and the disc is flawless..no scratches....I expected to get a CD instead of a SACD but I was pleasantly surprised:)

Those descriptions usually mean that the original case was damaged and they replaced it with another(a different album)case...in other words you might get a case with the Doors artwork and the EJ disc inside...

That's what happened to me with Cheap Thrills SACD.
Also... the copy of Peachtree I just mentioned is mysteriously gone now! (y)

David Bowie - LOW SACD-R ( only stereo but from the bin master reel web conversions ) sounding very nice via Dolby PLIIx, yeah I know fake surround...but sounds so much better than the Ziggy real surround. If only Bowie could have gotten the Greg Penny/Elton John treatment in the beginning...sigh...what could have been.

So true.. I'm always complaining about the unreleased EJ SACDs but at least the 5.1 Elton we did get is of a certain standard, whereas Bowie's surround showing is very spotty, to put it politely.. and if ever a man's music merited surround remixing its Bowie's imho.

Ziggy surround is "so so" (some days I play it and go, "oh its not SO bad after all.." and other days its like "oh good god what went SO wrong..!?")...

...Station To Station 5.1 is seriously screwed imho but can be rescued to a certain extent (basically use the invert reverb trick on audacity on the rears and that kills a lot of the obnoxious echo chamber reverb going on back there, majorly lower the levels on the front L&R, which are boosted to all hell.. and raise the centre channel - a lot, its surprising how much stuff is in the centre on Maslin's 5.1 STS remix, including amazing dry lead vocals and cool little things that aren't present in the stereo at all.. its still woefully substandard surround for such an incredible album.. but try tinkering along those lines, I think it helps a bit)..

..the Young Americans 5.1 is the best Bowie surround by a mile (it maybe could be improved slightly but compared to STS and Ziggy its a multichannel masterwork!)..

..which makes it even harder to swallow that Tony Visconti (who remixed Young Americans so well into surround) also remixed "Low" into 5.1 years ago and his remixes remain unreleased to this day.

Sigh.

Chances are Penny also mixed in surround tracks like the re-recording of "Skyline Pigeon", "Planes", "Sugar on the Floor", and "Don't Go Breaking My Heart".
On my end, there's been plenty of weeping, wailing, and gnashing of teeth because those 4 albums' surround mixes still linger on the shelf.
Universal doesn't even have the decency to reissue the other surround mixes (originally on SACD) as Blu-Ray Audio discs. Logic does not prevail yet again…

Probably.. "There ain't no easy way, no easy way, no easy way, to learn how to fly (in 5.1)" as Kiki's Sugar On The Floor kinda goes

I know it all too well.. so much to say about this album.. when I come across them (they're in a box somewhere no doubt.. not found them yet since moving down to the dungeon) I'll post pics of my press pack etc for Peachtree Road from back in the day (when I was involved with the fan club we used to get sneak previews of the albums etc.. fun times..) I'm dreading the new album, if it's going to be anything like the Ironing Board.

That is interesting. So if Social Disease does not have the fade in at the beginning on the blu ray then I must assume that it is a new mix. Perhaps someone already mentioned this but I must have missed it. Looks like I need the blu ray after all.

Social Disease going straight in at full volume was the most obvious anomaly with the Blu-ray (I nearly fell off my chair at the time!) but there were other little things I detected here and there (ha!) and the general sound seemed slightly less bright overall compared to the SACD/DVD-A but I only did like one big mega comparison of all the GYBR masterings for an SHF thread when the 40th Ann'y came out and since then it's not a record I turn to v.often tbh, all-time classic that it is I've kinda overdosed on it after the gazillionth time of listening to it  (but I will no doubt get back into it before long..)

Did you ever hear any of the PTR B-sides?

There were quite a few... and several of them are superior to 50% of what made it on the album imho.. check out:

"A Little Peace",
"How's Tomorrow",
"Keep It A Mystery",
"Things Only Get Better With Love",
"So Sad The Renegade"

well.. something like that..
they're all pretty solid tunes, in the context of that phase of his career.. I can see why some were left off the album but one or two are personal favourites of that time (and i know quite a few other fans who preferred "their" version of PTR with the b-sides included and some of the album tracks omitted.. ahh.. me and Reggie had so much fun.. it's EJ's fault I got into SACD, I was a DTS and DVD-A devotee prior to those Elton SACDs comin out!)

Fred is not a super fan, he is THE fan! :D

I truly hope we get to hear the shelved Multichannel mixes soon.

bah.. there was a time I hung out with folks who made me look like a part timer.. ;)

one of the (many) perplexing things about those unreleased EJ SACDs is they aren't just "also ran" records, these included number 1 albums with number 1 singles, hits a-go-go and cherished deep cuts aplenty..
