Just make peace that ALLLLL your discretionary money will disappear (and possibly more) and you'll be happier than a Snood hip deep in freshly minted quadraphonic glory

Ol' Blue Eyes Is Back - Frank Sinatra (CD-4)

"..think of all we had before,
let me try once more,
we can have it all
you and i again,
just forgive me or i'll die,
please let me try again.."

sumptuous arrangements couching the incomparable voice are currently pouring out of all 4 channels in a mix with such clarity its like ol' Blue Eyes is in my room.. is there any chance the Sinatra Quads may see a Quadio style box set release someday? i hope so!

Thank you, my Brother(s) In Arms for the reminder of what a Ride Across The River this hobby has been:

Yes, we've spent a LOT, but it's not been Money For Nothing. Why Worry? The return on our investment is PRICELESS

hi fizzy! 🤗
it was on Discogs but tbh i have consulted my oracle and touchstone in all such matters (our very own steelydave) and he believes the listing is in error, fuelled in part by his pic of the LP with a hype sticker saying "available in Quad" or something along those lines! yikes! 🤪

Oh ok.

I thought maybe Steely came across with hidden info or some ting lika dat.

With U A titles.........you never know. I read in BB they were actually persuing a quad format for vinyl ,over and above their Q8 program..... or so it was mentioned over and over for a bit. Kinda anxious for a vinyl format you could say.

UA were possibly not 100% confident in any of the main Quad vinyl offerings at the time? '73/'74.. SQ decoding hadn't got that good yet, QS hadn't the same adoption take up as SQ and they probably thought, hmm CD-4.. well it's CD-4! 🤪

interestingly UA did that John Gregory "A Man For All Seasons" SQ in the UK in '74 and Paul Anka's "The Painter" QS in'76.. so they sorta had a mini go at it "here" and "there".. both decode well thru the SM!

Well fwiw JVC Cutting Centre did up some test pressings for a number of labels from their respective quad catalogs , known and unknown.

ABC and MCA , were two mentioned.
And at Sonopresse in Germany , CD-4 discs were made for the likes of EMI and Polydor

As to matrix closet titles.........U A is a likely contender in my view.

You'd think they could of done a better job with this dvda, btw I have it too.
But then again, U K records should have and could have released some 10cc in quad.
They sure should have.
Saw them live in 1975 at Southampton Uni
Totally brilliant as a live act
Which you get some feeling for now it sounds better …(still not the best sound mind you, but tons better than it was)
I remember the lead singer trying to sing the high notes in Donna..he gave up in the end as laughing too much....as were we!!

have you tried any 10cc albums thru your SMv2 yet?

Not yet Adam
Still experimenting with all sorts of different formats especially with those I feel could have extra life with the SM2.

Now playing
Philip Glass
Koyaanisqatsi

This one:

https://www.discogs.com/Philip-Glass-Koyaanisqatsi/release/1399975
via SM2

By hopping backwards and forwards betwwen the standard mix and the analogue one.

And the result is just in from the Wantage jury

The SM2 has the edge!!

The sound is fuller and has more separation...although a tadge more heavy on the base.( need to adjust that)
