Black Sabbath Paranoid
Quadio
So happy to be listening to this again.
The best Quadio so far to me and it wipes the floor with most other modern reissues even new surround remixes.
Finally a shout out to @4-earredwonder for his reccomendation for Stokowski Mahler Symphony No 2 from our friends at DV. Sounds wonderful.
This was previously available on dolby surround encoded CD coupled with Brahms 4th Symphony which I also have. When DV reissues the quadraphonic Brahms I will let it go.
To think that Stokowski recorded this in quad at age 92 and he actually premiered some of Mahlers works earlier in the century.
2023 was quite the year for multichannel music! "I feel like i died and went to heaven" . . . here's hoping it is "A Dream That Can Last" through 2024 and well beyond. Starting my mellow Monday with this lovely 2023 release from Neil Young
Gerard Schwarz conducting the Royal Liverpool Philharmonic Orchestra Alan Hovhaness MYSTERIOUS MOUNTAINS [Telarc/Multi~CH SACD/Pure DSD] Hymn~like and haunting!
Winner of the Best Orchestral Surround Mix from 2003 Surround Conference and Music Awards
@Per Arne Larsen inspired me to revisit this one. Probably my favo(u)rite 2023 reissue of an album that feels like an old friend . . . made new through the magic of two multichannel mixes and a stellar stereo mix. And, as @splinter7 notes, i can really get lost in the transitioning window graphics of the menu . . . it stoned me! Top shelf 10!
Big ol mail day over here! Gonna be busy for a while (and I have the Nick Mason Saucerful of Secrets DVD (blu ray was sold out everywhere I looked) to get to as well, and Metal Machine Music coming in on Friday!)
