I have that too! It is somewhat rare, if I understand correctly.

Would love to get my hands on that ONE. Supposedly, only a few DVD~As were released to the public before it was recalled....something about Johnson not being pleased with the 5.1 remix (or something of that nature).

That's what they say. I was lucky for once and got it a decent price US $33.45 shipped excellent condition, first listen today. I understand the concerns with the disc, Mr. Johnson not approving of the release and other issues but I thought it sounded quite good, it will be my ride in music tomorrow too. Though unlikely, maybe it's about to be released again because I don't usually find a deal(y)

Was not easy to rip all the surround stuff on the dvd's - but it's great stuff, and a lot of it!!

Well finally, I have had this one since the 17th and have just now finished listening to the Chicago Transit Authority BD 4.0 disc #1 and all I can say is that when Rhino released the RBCD of this back around 2002 I thought it sounded absolutely sensational in stereo (this was the first time I had purchased it on cd, only had it previously on vinyl which I had won in a radio call in to radio station WLUP the Loop when I lived in...wait for it....wait for it....CHICAGO! I won the entire catalog up through XI including live At Carnegie Hall, never had any Chicago albums up to that time but loved what I heard on the radio so this made me so very happy! (also my Kenwood at the time of the cd only had Dolby Pro which I was mainly using for VHS and DVD's movies and concert videos was not really using it for cd music yet, although I think I already had purchased ELP BSS and YES Fragile on DVDA but didn't know quite what to do with them yet)) Then around 2009 Rhino released the Quad 4.0 DVDA of CTA and I thought it sounded absolutely sensational!! (in 2008 I had purchased my Onkyo TX SR606 and my OPPO DV-980H (eventually added Blu-Ray to the mix around 2010 with my current model a Panasonic DMP-BDT310 which I bought mainly for its 3D qualities but it works quite nicely with music too) at any rate I was locked and and loaded for 2.0, 4.0, 5.1 6.1 and 7.1 and could finally play those DVDA's I already had properly, so the race was on! I had to get my hands on all DTS, DVDA, SACD discs I could wrap my greedy little ears around (hello Ebay, hello Amazon), and this I have done for the last 8 or 9 years!

Then In 2016 Rhino released a 9 disc Quadio box set of Chicago in glorious Quad 4.0 and the CTA disc sounds absolutely sensational!!! Its so cool to see 4.0 @ 192 on the Onkyo display and while this is really cool the really, really cool thing is it sounds absolutely sensational!!!!

While it is going to take a while to get through all these discs, along with the others I still haven't listened to of which there are a few (just got a notification from Amazon that Laura Nero - Eli And The Thirteenth Confession just shipped and will be here tomorrow...what a wonderful time to love surround!) still haven't listened to Sanctuary II :slap: oh well will just have to soldier on and listen to the :banana:music:banana::banana:! Hint, Hint!!!

I'm still waiting for Chicago Quadio via Italia.

In the meantime...

Gustav Mahler - Symphony no.3 (SACD)

New York Philharmonic
Leonard Bernstein

You have inspired me to listen to this disc and it is absolutely fabulous. I then listened to the same forces doing the Mahler 7 (SACD) and it is also terrific. Although I bought the Bernstein Mahler 6 and 9 SACD, for some reason I have never got around to listening to it. It is next on my list (followed by the Mahler 4 (SACD and then the Mahler 2 (SACD) and I can only hope that it equals the other two; I imagine that they both do. I don't have Lenny's Mahler 1 (SACD) (maybe I should get it?) or 8 (SACD) (not my favourite Mahler symphony) and his New York Maher 5 is not very highly regarded.

Last night...

Spinning again..

JULIETA VENEGAS

"Limón y Sal"

DD 5.1
(Made in Argentina)

This is her best effort so far....
The music is Pop flavored Mexican, rap/pop , Straight ahead Pop, even some dark "4AD" flavored songs, ballads...
And her lyrics are smart, very seldom sappy and some are just outright fun (sorry for the non-Spanish speaking folks!).

The surround mix is EXTREMELY well done, with a nice "bubble" and some FULL (but not booming-a very fine line there) BASS!!!
And, even though it's DD, it sounds quite good, maybe because the instrumentation is sparse most of the time (when it's all full blown, you can definitely notice a dive in fidelity..but, that's DD for you!)..

I LOOOVE this disc...

Been a while since I've played this one. My favourite album of theirs. Ripples is such a beautiful song.

Genesis - A Trick of the Tail (DVD-V)

Big Big Train Blu Ray. Pretty loud, especially after listening to AP's latest one, but nice surround mix.

I'm in Tull-mode.

It's so great to listen to the album in different surround mixes and extra tracks - also in surround - fantastic.

Are there more of Jethro Tull surround releases to come?? With Steven Wilsons magic applied?

Yes, "Stand Up" will be released in the Fall, followed by the folk trilogy of "Songs from the Wood", "Heavy Horses", and "Stormwatch". After that, no more remixes are planned at this time.
