Ben Craven - Two False Idols (DTS CD).

Superb Surround Music mix, very active rears and thoughtful placement of everything in the soundfield.

There's some lovely (at times hauntingly beautiful) vocals in the rears and even some non-gratuitous very appropriate 360-degree round the room panning thrown into the mix (track 2; "Captain Caper").

I cannot recommend it highly enough to you.

You can order it here; Two False Idols - Ben Craven : 5.1 DTS CD set

This set is only $15 Australian Dollars..
so in U.S. Dollars that's approximately $11.25c right now!!
(+ shipping, direct from the artist).

I agree - it is a great surround disc.

I ordered it after it was recommended in this thread some weeks ago - thanks, don't remember who...

I'm glad you're enjoying them! :)

These mixes open the music up so much that sometimes some of Nick's ghosts and demons slip out of the speakers and start haunting the room... :O

I'm enjoying this one at the moment. Perfect for a windy and rainy day.

Following up with this one which was just delivered.

I'm playing this one again. It may only be a 48/24 disc, but I really love the sound of it and the mix is rich, full and well balanced. I like it better than the Naxos DVD-A I have of the same pieces.

good ol' vintage recording

*Just a heads up: HDTT (High Definition Tape Transfers) seem to have a sale going on... Every multichannel album I checked was 20% off (physical media and downloads).

Special thanks goes to 4earredwonder to make me aware of them ^_^
