Pixies "Doolittle" BD-A, way better than the Minotaur surround mix, much more happening in the rear channels.

Then a switch of genre to,

Aretha Franklin "Best Of..", Warner, DVD Quadradisc which has arrived - really good musically and mix wise.
&
Tower Of Power "Ain't Nothin' Stoppin' Us Now", Vocalion, SACD
The Main Ingredient "Euphrates River", Vocalion, SACD - of the two of the Vocalion releases was the one I wasn't sure I'd like, its excellent, its my favourite of the two!

Sly & The Family Stone - Greatest Hits [SACD Quad]

Oh, and some excellent small brewery beer from the 21st Amendment Brewery! Not sure about you'all across the pond, but high quality small batch brew is the rage and now you can find many of them in cans! Hell yeah, can's...pound them, throw 'em on the ground.@:

glad its better (the old one must have been pretty crap I didn't rate the Pixies mixies tbh, in particular the rears ain't v.discrete a lot of the time)... not overly fussed about the Aretha Quad that much (its back to front isn't it?!) and prefer the TOP to the Ingredients all round.. but it wouldn't do for us all to be the same and despite disagreeing with everything you've said Duncan I do respect your opinion! :)

yeah we're all about all that craft beer type stuff here.. if only we could be all about the DVDA as much as the IPA.. we shall just have to drown our collective trans-incontinental sorrows!

Simply, astounding music in surround!

IMHO, Gene, I LOVE ALL the Fripp/Wilson King Crimson 5.1 MLP DVD~A remixes. A pluperfect example of revitalizing a back music catalog in a most delightful way. As much as I admire the TULL and Fleetwood Mac remixes, they REALLY screwed up by releasing them as LOSSY [(n)(n)] DVD~Vs........CRIMINAL, IMO.

The KC remixes were not only done intelligently and represent great value for the dollar.......they will endure as models of how contemporary re~releases should be handled............DONE RIGHT THE FIRST TIME!

Hopefully, with the advent of UHD BD, the powers that will be see fit to utilize the format and dispense with ALL LOSSY codecs!!!!!!!

Yes , indeed; the KCrimson rereleases are EXEMPLARY (we'll forgive them for the first couple in 48/24...they still sound great)...great work from a great team...and let's not forget the ..ohhhh...how many BOX SETS too???

I sometimes have to pinch myself that we have gotten a LOT of classics in GOOD MCH ...Ten years ago I'd have NEVER IMAGINED that we'd get all of these goodies..we must admit that the gods have been good to us "Quadheads"

"Can I get an Amen, brothers and sisters?"

AMEN, Brothers and Sisters! And have a VERY happy Holiday, Kap!

There's more QUAD/5.1/7.1 ahead in 2017 as I'm sure the pleasant surprises aren't yet over for us QUADHEADS :banana::banana::banana:

Not listening to yet, but after years I finally pulled the trigger for the two Floyd 5.1 Immersion sets........found new at $70/each with free ship, how could I refuse. So, I'll soon be playing with my marbles.
