I think we all want the polls to generally represent our personal feelings...which many times they won't. I'm trying to not worry so much about the polls....but that being said, I'm gonna vote and put out my thoughts for the ones that mean the most to me. Can't help myself.

Yep..I try to be fair and not low ball a title(don't go below a 7 if it's done well)just because it's not my style of music..but at the end of the day content is king...

Late post - last night I listened to America 5.1 SACD again...and I might have to virtually increase my vote to 9.6.....up from the 9.4 I initially gave it. lmao
It does sound stellar played at obscene volumes....

You cheap bastard:scream..don't go all Walmart on me now...it's a 10 all day long..if that was the Doors or Rush you would have given it a 15..

HAHAHA! walmart....hehehe. Yes, I will have to corral myself when I get The Doors SACD...I really will. You know I will....I'm almost ready to pre-cristen it a 10. (spelling??)

The only "shortcoming" of Homecoming is the total playing time. The standard LP back then could hold 45 minutes. At 33 minutes Homecoming was a bit light on content.

That's true..but Homecoming had 10 songs on it...3 of them were hits on the singles charts and 3 more received a lot of radio air time..I have no problem with the length when you get quality like that..

You can probably tell I have a fondness for brass music of the Baroque era. So, this Telarc SACD naturally found its way into my player this morning. Telarc has produced several excellent "Discrete Multi-channel Surround" recordings over the years...as many here who are familiar with "Los Angeles Guitar Quartet: Latin Album" will already know. This one is for brass quintet and organ. Most of the pieces are well known baroque favorites given lively (if not historically accurate) performances. The Empire Brass takes a slightly more romantic/modern approach, which IMHO is fine when the results are as delightful as these.

Out of the blue would be incredible in surround...I'd settle for a blu ray concert version of Zoom...

An absolutely gorgeous recording of medieval choral polyphony. The singers are joined by recorder, fiddles, mandora and organ. The recording uses the rear channels very effectively to immersively recreate the deep resonance of the Convent of the Ursuline Sisters.
Beautifully atmospheric and highly recommended!
