Clint, just curious

Is that a Pentatone QUAD issue, or some quad tracks? And the remainder 5.1?

I'm not Clint.. ..but if I may, this was a sampler of 5.1 Pentatone mixes (no Pentatone RQR old Quad iirc.. I'm sure someone will chime in if I've got that wrong.. but there's a very good easy to get cheapo Pentatone RQR Quad sampler SACD) with a load of test tones etc (rehashed from an obscure and HTF Philips SACD demonstration promo disc I talked about on here before one time) tacked onto the end. I picked it up in a local Classical Music store in the last years (store now sadly defunct.. RIP.. :( ) for next to nothing "just because" it was SACD.. a great sampler.. but then I'm a sucker for a sampler! :D

Here's the Philips SACD Surround Sound Reference disc (really really hard to find.. I can't go into how I got one but suffice to say a more circuitous route to getting hold of a bloody glorified CD you'd be hard pushed to come across!!) which has some of the same test material as that Pentatone iirc..

And for the most part, sounds like crap. I listened to the 1st album from The Doors Perception and feel it may sound better now. At least, tracks off the first album. I'll have to listen to the other five to form a final opinion.

Whatever you changed on your system you better change it back if you think Perception is better...

Interesting. I feel that the biggest improvement on the SACD are the tracks off the first album.

It is the first time I've listened to the SACD and it was really loud and after I already had a couple of drinks. All the tracks that are taken from the 1st album are anemic in the bass department, including the live track. I want to listen to all the tracks off of 'The Best Of" and compare them to the Perception version but I won't get the chance for the next couple of days.

Actually, my system now is an improvement in many ways. ;)

I can't EVER imagine Bose speakers being an improvement in sound quality..especially compared to what you called "close to full range speakers"...they might take up less space...that's about it..just please don't make any life altering decisions...this "condition will pass(hopefully):walker
