I can't EVER imagine Bose speakers being an improvement in sound quality..especially compared to what you called "close to full range speakers"...they might take up less space...that's about it..just please don't make any life altering decisions...this "condition will pass(hopefully):walker

What. ever. you. do., DO NOT CALL MY SPEAKERS Bose!!! They are far from it. Besides, don't knock them until you've actually heard my system.

I thought you said they were Lifestyle speakers...HERE...and Bose is the only line I know that uses that name....so they aren't Bose huh...consider myself mortified if they aren't Bose:couch

Sergio Mendes in quad. Interesting. A pleasant mellow mix. But very active too. Very fitting for the material.

Fagerlund: Violin concerto, Ignite - Kuusisto, Lintu (SACD)

The rear channels are not particularly discrete, but compliment the overall soundstage very nicely. While listening to the thrilling performance of this atmospheric music, one feels as if the concert hall is right in your room.

Sebastian Fagerlund is kind of new on the scene and his music is modern. But it's not harsh or overly dark or difficult. It does have an appealing quirkiness. The violin concerto is superb. The orchestral piece "Ignite" is a dynamic work but with shining moments of beauty. If you're open to new styles of music, there is much to enjoy on this excellent release from BIS.

Just received this one. I was looking forward to hearing it as there is hardly anything written about the multichannel content of this series except that Simon Heyworth is responsible for both the multichannel mixes and mastering. It does sound amazing. The mixes are pretty sobre as this was most likely recorded on 8 tracks and that almost everything is drenched in reverb. Pretty much a product of it's time but I absolutely love it. Aznavour has the stamina of Sinatra onstage (and the material is sometimes similar) but he also as prolific a composer as McCartney was. His best material was recorded between 1958 and 1972.

Got all but one of the Aznavour SACDs (9 out of 10 will have to do for now, I simply cannot find La Boheme for love nor money.. well, sensible money..) I've only got round to playing 4 of them (the other 5 are still sealed for no other reason than a lack of time to sit and listen to them!) but really enjoyed what I've heard so far.. they're "loud" but extremely detailed masterings and the mixes panned out better than I anticipated.. gotta catch em all..! :D

My third Moody Blues SACD arrived today. I must confess that I originally ordered it for my favourite track Melancholy Man, but after listening to the album whilst at work on YouTube, I've actually grown to like it quite a bit. I'm quite happy with the Quad mix and the larger than usual booklet.

I'll be picking up the two other titles I want as the prices are slowly starting to increase on these.
