The Best Of The Guess Who - AF - SACD 4.0 I've picked up a half dozen or so AF MC SACDs over the last couple months and like all the quad and 5.1 mixes except this one, I prefer the stereo mix. So listening to the 4.0 again trying to sway my opinion :D

Beethoven: Symphonies Nos. 3 & 8 - Masur (SACD)

Sorry to break up the rock festival ;), but I picked up some more of Kurt Masur's Beethoven symphony cycle. Just listening to the 1973 Quad recording of the Eroica. It's an excellent performance. Surrounds are deep and immersive, but not as aggressive as TACET.

I should receive this one in about a month so I cannot wait to hear it. Undun is my favourite song of theirs. His voice is sublime there.

Ambra Prism Of Life 7.1 Blu Ray. Got damn this is loud. Great surround mixes as usual, but by the sound of this I would guess the DR reading would be 6 or 7, quite astonishing really. Do not put this on immediately after listening to one of Steven Wilson mixes. Some modern death metal CDS are even mastered this loud. Crazy.

Thanks, Lute - I'm trying to add more classical surround titles to my collection, but I know there must be so many I'm just not aware of. It's been a slow process. Thanks for the tip -

Neil Young "Harvest" DVD-A... This sounds amazing if you correct the channels. If you bought this and it's gathering dust, just download free trials of DVDAE and AnyDVD; the fix is easy and well worth it!

It's vinyl appreciation today for me. Spinning some SQ discs and enjoying the ritual that goes along with playing an actual record. In honor of the rumors of a possible AF release of Loggins & Messina I'm playing their self titled album. I saw these guys live multiple times back in my teen years. Best memory of a Loggins & Messina concert was when they headlined with the opening act of J Geils Band. I was there to see J Geils and they were fantastic live. This was pre-J Geils Freeze Frame era. I saw them right after they released their live album, Full House. They rocked the place and were an odd match up with Loggins and Messina. I remember being down no the floor for J Geils and then just going up and chilling in the grandstands when L&M came on. But a memorable concert. As I've mellowed with age I appreciate Loggins and Messina more. They were a bit too mellow for me back during my youth.

John Lee Hooker's "Kabuki Wuki". Need to find the thread about matrix-encoded CDs...it's pretty clear to me that both discs in the BGO reissue of this album and "Born in Mississippi, Raised up in Tennessee" are both genuine QS.

Screen shot 2015-08-01 at 3.09.11 PM.png Metallica (The Black Album): Metal fix time! It's fun stuff but I have to move around now and again due to ear fatigue. Of course I have it way too loud but I think compression might also be a factor.

Paying proper tribute to Sly & the Family Stone's Greatest hits SQ LP by listening to I Want To Take You Higher and smoking legal Washington State recreational marijuana. :smokin
