Styx "The Mission"5.1 BD-A... WOW! This sounds really good so far... this is a really cool mix... completely immersive, and definitely discrete, but not in the sense of "oh, this instrument is coming from that speaker"; more like certain instruments are coming from various "areas" of the room, with the drums all around the room, and lead vocals/lead guitars coming from everywhere. It just sounds like it's got balls! And they're bouncing all around, to the left and to the right (and the front and the back, he he)! Excellent! I hate to say it, but my initial impression is that this has a better overall sound than the recent G N' R disc (and that sounds GOOD!)

Bryan Adams - Reckless

Classic 80’s Pop/Rock.

Ya know...I've gotten used to that "80's" sound in hi rez discs...

I think it's understandable that it sounds better than G N' R....mission is a recent recording...

I have a couple of friends in town, that are also into surround. A couple of weeks ago one of them wanted to borrow my Perception set and asked what I wanted to listen to. I told him I wanted to hear the Fleetwood Mac surround from the box set. He said I could borrow the box set but had to take one more item home and listen. The last time he did this to me it was the Larisa Stow disc he had found somewhere. He handed me the Fleetwood Mac box and included the Gene Simmons dualdisc. He found it at an estate sale and paid a quarter for it. I finally got around to listening to it yesterday. I thought it would be horrible, but it was only underwhelming. I will listen once more before I give it back just to have a more informed opinion. Going to go but The Mission in now. I was glad to find my local record store carrying it. I also saw the Japan sacd of Drama in the store. I know it is stereo but wondered if anyone has heard it. Scott
You handed over your Perception box set? You have good friends, take care of them.

I feel ya. Her vocal moments tend to be my favorites on Anathema records.
They should just let her take over on lead vocals already. She’s clearly better than Vincent. Although, to be fair, Vincent does sound good on most of the songs on The Optimist. Something I can’t say regarding their previous couple of albums I’ve listened to.

(Dutton wins again)

To any of you who, like me, might have a little (or maybe big) pile of discs you just haven't had time to listen to: If this is one of them, do yourself a favor and move it to the top of the stack. Petrushka is a feature film for the ears, and this disc is so ridiculously well-performed (and recorded!), it had me laughing out loud at times. Good God, there may be hope for this human race after all...
