Simple Minds - Sparkle in the Rain (DVD from the deluxe box set)

This is one album in their catalog that I played to death. Back in the day, I recorded the vinyl LP to cassette tape along with the 12” extended mixes and B-Sides. What I’d give to go back to those times...aaaaah!

Listening now to JSP Records, Triple Fret. SACD, mch 5.1. I don’t want to be argumentative but just got finished listening to The Mission, Styx which is immersive, this is discrete. Maybe I need to learn more but if you have an immersive disc and a discrete disc in your collection let me know what they are and if I don’t have I will buy it, to further educate myself. Telling me is no good, showing me is where it’s at.

I love Simple Minds in any version.

Jethro Tull Heavy Horses New Shoes Edition DVD 1 DTS 5.1 96k/24b: Ideal listening conditions. I don't know this album, can you believe this is a fresh listen? No audio funny business so far. I should explain, what I mean is no uncomfortable sensations. Definitely punchy, so glad to have it. Will listen again.

I also love anything iNXS, maybe my favorite band of all time?
I’m only familiar with everything up to Kick but I welcome anything by them in Surround Sound.

I have a special place in my heart for Shabooh Shoobah because it was the first album I’ve ever owned by them. Though, I’d rather see The Swing next but we’ll probably get one of their later releases, which is okay by me. With the exception of the hits, I haven’t heard any of their later albums, except for one. Can’t remember which one...LOL

OK folks, so after many a tribulation involving the flooding of my apt with waste water and moving to another apt. I FINALLY GOT MY SURROUND SYSTEM GOING YESTERDAY!!!!
YEEEAAAAHHHHHH!!!! WOOO HOOOOOO!!!!!
The Marantz receiver is a dream and the Polk Audio speakers sound smooth as silk with a BIG ROUND BASS SOUND!
After setting the system with the Ausyssey EQ system I reached out for the first Audio BD I really liked and was promptly blown away.. again (I did QC for this one too but it seems like forever ago!!!)
YES "RELAYER"

Styx- The Mission... rears lowered 3dB... this sounds even better! Interesting, many have commented on lead vocals in rears and backing vocals up front, but this is not a mistake (IMO)... most of the drums and bass are up front. The calls for "replacement discs" are unwarranted. It's just a different kind of mix... and the vocal placements are actually very cool! The singer is singing right next to you with backing vocals off in the distance... what's wrong with that, when you think about it? It's just not what we're used to.

I'm sure at one point Pablo Picasso had almost everyone saying: Why can't you make the heads round? Why make them square?

The sad thing about most people is they can't understand the difference between "this is something I do not like/enjoy" and "this is absolute rubbish". I for one am glad that many here enjoy it. Maybe I won't when I get to hear it, but I'll be able to say so if that's the case. Not that I demand a replacement disc. Kudos to Styx and their label for having the balls to offer their fans a 5.1 mix.
