Keb’ Mo “Just Like You”. Man o’ man where has this been all my life!

This is one of the best mch albums I’ve heard yet. The sound quality is off the charts. Wide dynamics, natural vocals, and kick-ass instrumentals. The mix fits the music like a glove, with tasteful use of surrounds. Highly recommended if you can find it at reasonable cost. They show up on eBay occasionally.

This is an album I missed out on getting. It became hard to get quite quickly, but I eventually found a company/shop in the UK that said they had it, sent the money, got nothing, emailed no reply, ever. :poop:

That is a major bummer! Sporadically on eBay you’ll see them from $50-100, but patience is key. I’m not sure where I first heard of this album. Might have been the SH forum....

Dylan - Blood on the tracks sacd.

An oldy but goodie, one of the first discs in my collection 3 years ago. I love the sound, warm, detailed, mostly immersive but very clear with great instrumental separation and vocals powerful in the center.

My fav Dylan, best listened to at decently loud volume in a darkened room with a glass of bourbon.

One thing that people too often don't realize about Instrumental Pop is that most of these albums were produced and recorded in the top studios using the best Pop, Jazz, Country & Soul players and arrangers.

No wonder so many sounded so insanely amazing. This is true of most countries too. Whether it be an album from Bert Kaempfert, Percy Faith, Nelson Riddle, Paul Mauriat, Frank Pourcel or John Gregory. Henry Mancini could have easily have stuck to releasing a few soundtracks every year but these were all hard working men who loved their work so passionately. I am most thankful we have so many of these albums to enjoy even today. Dutton/Vocalion's releases of these great Quad albums is truly a blessing in these modern times.

In the U.K. on top of working on Instrumental Pop albums, many of these best arrangers and players would also do some of their best work for Library Music albums (KPM, Chappel & De Wolfe were the biggest catalogs over there). I wish some of those had been mixed in Quad. Incidentally, Dutton/Vocalion has been releasing many of these on CD over the years.
