Go on then I'll say it...'WHATS THE VERDICT'!!
Too impatient me...

Well I've listened twice now DTS & DD and I'm enjoying both I think the DTS has the edge but I can't tell why, the mix is not super discrete with instruments flying around it's more of a wrap around mix, especially when coming from the Booka Shade Atmos. Having said that I've now gone back to DTS and playing Ships in the Night there are definitely elements from the rear, keyboards and drums, there is also a sort of soft/smooth sound to it all. So now I've banged up the volume of the rears a notch or 2 and it's improved things, I wish these mixers had some standard that they could adhere to to eliminate the constant tweaking every time we put in a different disc!

Well Andy and Avril,
With a better selection of songs on Clutching (imo) you should have got Steve to give it a once over.
As predictably, your mix, although reasonable, is not in his class.
Steve needs to set up a surround school where these budding engineers can really learn a trick or two.
Sorry... bit of a hobby horse of mine.:)

Is Misplaced Childhood really much better? The consensus (with which I agree) is that it is very tame.

From a surround perspective yes...not the song selection.

Out of the three, Clutching has the better songs (imo) and Fish's voice seems to be really hitting all the right notes.

Steves' voice on Brave lacks Fish's theatrical presence...but again a great mix by Mr Wilson.

Dayum, CaS must be VERY tame then...
Misplaced Childhood sounds great, but is simply immersive. Not much surround wow to be heard (IIRC)...

Didn't want to be the harbinger of iffy reviews of new surround releases....But it is slightly tame.
But to my ears the fidelity kinda makes up for that...if that ain't too cock-eyed.:)

Huh. I'll have to juxtapose the two soon. The way you're describing Cass is a dead-ringer for my impression of MC!

Although I did listen to MC , from what I read, the Straws release shouldn't have the same negative feedback...imo

Brave is deff the better mix out of the three.
