Flim & The BB's: Big Notes was my very first foray into much better than average sound quality equipment at Hi-Fi House here in Knoxville about 30 years ago. The company is still around, but now you have to make a fancy appointment, and they mostly sell home furnishings and alarm systems, mostly. One of the first things I ever heard on a multiple thousand dollar setup back in the day though. I love Flim & The BB's!

I can't say anything about not opening titles...some I have had for a few years and they are still sealed...but that one...you should give it a spin....there are Carly titles with better content....but her voice on that one.....well...I do get smitten with some of these female voices....and that's true with this title...it's the warmth...like you were sitting on the front porch at night when it was quiet and she was sitting on a swing(it's a southern porch with white columns)and she was singing to just you...so if that's not appealing to you...just leave it sealed

...in my vision she's also wearing the same outfit from the cover photo shoot

In an Oldfield mood today.... Overall nice mix on this one, although a couple of songs deviate a bit too much from the original versions. Unlike the other Oldfield titles, there's no poll for this one. Can we get one added?

Toccata and Fugue Organ Surround Illusion - Aleš Bárta (SACD)

well they got the illusory bit right wrt the surround sound!

sound quality is fabulous, really wonderful, just it's barely coming across as anything other than Stereo.. nothing in the LFE (strange for all the booming organ? maybe not! there's plenty of low end regardless).. barely anything perceptible in the Centre although CF imaging is solid.. the Rears are much louder than the Centre but lower in volume with a whiff of faint ambience relative to the Fronts.

oh well, as a recording its excellent, so worth getting in itself i guess, just don't expect any surround illusions beyond the effect the ambient mix creates.. that's the point i suppose, its an illusion of surround! wow!

kinda campy in a way!
i like it!
shame some of the drums sound like crisp packets and the string synths have an air of the bontempi about them.. but i can live with all that, the surround mix is nice and active and musically its a lot of fun!
