Wow...I'm surprised they even have quad stuff....

Every record store or fair I've been to has at least one or two quad LPs in their inventory, if not more. It's not always the most exciting stuff (classical, easy-listening, etc), but it's there. Plus you've got the single-inventory titles like the Annie OST, where the quad version is the only version.

I've always wondered if there's some mathematical ratio, like for every 10,000 stereo LPs in the world there's probably one quad one or something like that.

Dedicated quad bins are pretty uncommon though. The problem is, once you buy all the quad stuff they've got, they don't usually get more in...

I'd definitely welcome a D-V two-fer of this title and Perfect Angel. Both SQ's are somewhat hard-to-find, while the Q8's are practically unobtainable.

Although I'm not the biggest fan of this style of mixing (which seems to all have been done by the team of Dick Bogert and Warren Vincent) I agree these mixes are a lot of fun, and the albums are great.

I think the possibility of them being reissued is probably complicated by the fact that even though they were originally recorded for Epic, in the late 70s (around the time she was diagnosed with cancer), Riperton moved to Capitol Records and attorney somehow got CBS to agree to transfer the ownership of her back catalog to Capitol too. So now these two albums are owned by UMG, who seem to be slow as molasses when it comes to licensing stuff for reissue. I think they also put out a special edition of Perfect Angel a year or two ago so I'm not sure if they'd want to license a reissue that would compete with their own product, but I'd love to eat crow on that one.

Where do you guys find this stuff? In 5.1 no less...
I find it by reading this thread on these forums to see what others are listening to, then I'll look at the polls to see if it gets good write ups, then I'll look on ebay to see if it is affordable, if it is buy it, that's what I did with The Thrills!

I also check discogs and Amazon, though most OOP stuff I probably find on eBay.

Super discrete classical quad!
