It could also be on the bottom of the chassis
The X700 can't read DVD audio. This is why i chose the X800.I see the Sony BPX700/CA on sale. How do they compare?
I agree it's supposed to be good stuff. But since they are 5oz cans I would get more than one if it were me. I would still hose most everything down with WD40 first. (I don't know about the disc drawer mechanism...I've never been into one in an Oppo further than removing the lens cover and cleaning the laser lens.
For over 50 years, I’ve used isopropyl alcohol to clean circuit boards. I take an acid brush (woodworkers’ glue brushes are identical) and cut off all but about 1/4” of the bristles. That gives them some stiffness so they’ll scrub the board. These days, I buy them by the bagful from Woodcraft.I know. I'm not going to take a crap shoot and repair it so I may as well try. I have some CRC QD Electronic Cleaner that is supposed to work miracles, but I haven't used it yet. May give it a shot tomorrow.
I'm not a fan of using WD40 inside electronics, it leaves behind an oily gummy substance after drying that attracts dust and dirt, etc.WD40 is a solvent not a lubricant like some people think. It's great for cleaning things out, but best to use something else afterwards to get the aggressive WD40 off. In this case contact cleaner.
Yep, the X800M2 is a great player with a strong, quiet transport, almost silent in the open/closing.Just received the Sony UBP-X800M2 this week. It's a very good player.
Ouch!Well the CRC QD Electronic Cleaner managed to remove all the visible corrosion but player still doesn't open. Got some on my hand and lost a small layer of skin on my palm!
I had an old Panasonic player and i realize that i actually never looked at the display and took the habit to always use the monitor.Yep, the X800M2 is a great player with a strong, quiet transport, almost silent in the open/closing.
It handles everything I use in BD / Optical media without issue.
My main complain is the fact it offers zero in the way of a display and requires having a video monitor active for most everything. That can be a PITA for our music only discs for sure.
The other is that it can't be used to rip SACD's, but few can. The good news is many other players are available used for under $50 on ebay.
