if you're moving in, I expect to see the following on your go-fast Mopar. Us rednecks ( me and the Mrs ) like to hang out with the same crowd

"You know your a redneck when your new TV sits on top of your old TV"

I've seen pics of your current set up, Mr. Entrepreneur Business Man. Somehow I don't think that's you.

3 to 1. One dollar in California gets you 3 dollars in Michigan when it comes to real estate. You could build a helluva castle here. And - yes - you can have a gun. Its Michigan - you are not allowed in the state unless you have one.
A Razer is badass, Im old - I got a Gator.

I own the 2 acres next door. Its yours. Cmon up - but - fair warning - the weather here is not as nice as Cali. Also, we only have 2 seasons in Michigan - winter and Road Construction
Winter and Road Construction ..... WOW!

And seriously Ricko...I think a dollar in Michigan goes WAY FARTHER than in both Cali and New York. My nephew who lives in Northern Cali makes over $375K per year and can't afford to buy a house....instead paying $4400 a month for a two bedroom!!!!!!!!

And if your BARN gets too loud ....... no one's going to bother you! SWEET!

I spent three years in Oscoda. Most people think it's nice in the summer, and our lakefront cabin was nice in the summer. But -29F and 30' snowdrifts pretty much made me want to not live there.

In Idaho, at least where I live, this winter was severe. We had a 4" snowfall, and it kept the mail carrier from her "appointed rounds" for about 3 days.

It all depends on how much data your hardware can consume. 4K TV won't come close to 2Gbps. Maybe if you run a streaming multiplex??
Well 50 ft CAT 8 Outdoor rated aren't that expensive. I ordered two today and caught a sale. I'm a big believer in overkill and redundacy. lol.
You see my main pc in the avatar, right? ;)
Besides I want this to be the last time I ever crawl under the house again.

The key distinction is that CAT 8 cabling has faster throughput over short distances — 40Gbps up to 30 meters and the standard CAT 6 rate of 10Gbps at up to 100 meters. This evolution from CAT 6 also has a bandwidth of 2000 megahertz, twice that of CAT 7.
Cost reductions of ethernet switches has stalled. Gigabit switches are cheap but 10 gigabit are not, price stubbornly stays high because people are buying wifi instead and broadband itself is only just getting up to and above gigabit speeds. I'm sceptical of any cabling above CAT 6, and the standards for CAT 7 and 8 are contested too. Some of them also mandate non standard connectors for the higher speeds.

Poured concrete walls is the main construction?
hey Sonik
no the walls are not poured concrete. Forms are for the foundation and the walls will be lumber.
I wish it were fully concrete - and underground ! - that would truly be a "mancave'
My wife would like it all concrete also - ala my sarcophagus !!

I like that you didn't mention this until the ground was broken. Now we get to see progress right from the start. I imagine it must be immensely exciting for you. Seeing it all starting to happen
thank you Bill B for the kind words
I was hesitant to share this project as doing so seems 'boisterous'. And - believe it or not - Im a low key guy - ( other than NFL football and UofM football ) I am not active in social media other than QQ.
But - Im letting it all hang out for y'all to see. Hope you enjoy it. All of my QQ buddies bring me a smile and laugh and the joy of audio and video - and I hope that I can return the favor.

Ah Owen, you're such a downer sometimes, with your facts. :)
I expect the CAT 8 cables I'm running will be just fine, since I've been using them inside for a while now.

I love it, bring on all the excess! What is your color scheme for the outside? What sort of roof, blah, blah. Or are you going to roll it out as it happens, only to tease us along?

I love this stuff. It's very much like watching "This Old House" as you get to see the project progress. I hope it all goes smoothly. Thanks for sharing. People can either follow or ignore.
