Yes, I will bitch and moan about the cost, and the likely average mix ahead of time. But in all honesty, I'll likely buy this. It is my favorite Rush title as it meant the world to me back in my silly youth...
So expensive though, dammit.
If its the same mix as is on Apple, don't. You already have a better version.

Hey, you bought the Destroyer box, this is probably a better value music-wise so why not. Plus, I assume you actually want the vinyl.

Of course, I'll use the vinyl, but don't get me wrong. I want the MCH mix the most. Obviously, $300 is a lot of money, but I put it in perspective when I remind myself that I don't hesitate to buy $20 bottles of wine.....and then actual consume them....with nothing to show 1 week later. I mean....you know.

MP isn't my favorite Rush title, but it's certainly in the team photo.

And yeah, I'm pretty sure I'll end up buying this.

Are any of the other sets aside from AFTK any good? I see they have a Permanent Waves set on the site, but unless I'm missing it, it doesn't seem to include MCH.

The only mega Rush set with MC worth getting, so far, is AFtK.
Based on Chycki's Hemispheres mix, plus the MP Atmos that's already streaming, I'm a hard pass on this SDE. I love MP more than the average bear, but that alone does not justify spending $300 on something that doesn't enhance my enjoyment enough.

But I'd prefer a decent bottle of wine to a CRAP remix based on what I've read so far on this thread. This will only encourage them and other rock acts to do the same ......... MOST especially when you consider all the Beatles box sets containing the surround remixes probably cost just a little more than this one box set with a shi**ty remix...at that $400 retail price! i.e. AmazonUS currently has the LET IT BE boxset for $95!!!!!

Hi all, I'm looking for buy a DVD-audio or blu-ray version of Rush's Moving Pictures. This new boxset is way out of my price range. I was interested in getting this one found here. I see it on different sites and the prices vary from $11 to over $100. Are they all the same? some say DVD audio and some say blu-ray. are they both the same or two different versions?

I like Rush, but for my level of fandom, all of the SDE's have been too expensive. MP is just the icing on the cake. way too rich for my blood, even if it did come with marbles and a scarf.

It's not that I won't spend $300+ on an SDE, I purchased "No Other" off eBay for a ton of money, but other than the vinyl, there is no filler in that set. The book is great, all of the discs are hi-res and the documentary on the blu-ray is a special feature worth having. My only interest in the MP 40th is the new mix and since it's the same guy who did the last one, I'm not that interested. I don't have the "Music from Big Pink" SDE because I've had the DVD-A for almost 20 years.

I don't understand this type of release. Packaging vinyl with multichannel doesn't make sense to me. The vinyl from each set like this I've purchased has never been sullied by a stylus. If they can shrink wrapped, they still are. What small percentage of the physical media buying market wants both?

Yo, Gene 15 bottles of 🍷 = 1 Rinky Dinky Ricky Chycki REMIX! Guaranteed, the former will make you feel better! :SB

Well, I guess the thinking is that a significant number of fans who want either will pony up for the expensive set, even if they don't want both. Which is a shame.

Brand new to the hobby, and this is the first new release from my favorite band, and...ugh. $300+? And I've never heard the SW mix of A Farewell to Kings, but I found Hemispheres disappointing.

URGH. The OCD collector in me wants to pre-order this, but the (admittedly tiny) rational part of my brain says that cash could be better spent on other releases.
If I can pre-order on Amazon and pull it before it gets released, I’ll do that or even take a chance of Amazon FUCKING up delivery again and deliver a DAMAGED product like they did for KISS DESTROYER box set, I might take that chance, depending on how $$ rich I am at the time😁

You might actually want to rethink that one, Bob Clearmountain's 5.1 remix on the Blu-Ray is a considerable upgrade on the DVD-A both spatially and tonally.
I’ve got a copy of MUSIC FOR BIG PINK, played once, yes the SDE set and willing to sell or trade

As far as the MP set goes….I bet at this price….it MIGHT GO THE WAY OF “GnR’s” UBER BOX SET…”LOCKED N LOADED” at least I’m hoping so

As far as a WORLD WIDE fan base goes I think GnR have a bigger following…if I’m wrong let me know

The Blu-ray as far as I know is out of print and pretty expensive. I got the DVD-Audio on Amazon Canada a few months back for 40 dollars but I know I overpaid for it, you can definitely get it for cheaper. The mix is pretty underwhelming, Chycki somehow made Neil's drums sound worse in the 5.1 mix... and I don't know if it's just me but I swear the vocal on Red Barchetta is a different take...
