11 months ago, added headers, Pro Charger and HPTune. Turned into a nightmare of delays, them not being able to complete the tune. An inadequate Dyno, etc.
Sent the car to a Tune specialist in Texas, got it done in 3 days.
So now I am fixing little things that got broken, etc.
Adding the painted parts that where done about a year ago.
Mostly getting used to the car, quite a handful, if I jump on it with street tires it will break loose, that's a good thing, but I have to learn the feel of it.
I take it to the track this coming Weds, I was in the 13's before, maybe in the 10's now?
Don't really want to be below 10 cuz NHRA makes you put in roll cage under 10.
Was 365 horse, now 560 HP and 540 torque at the rear wheels.
Anyway just been an exhaustive education in learning and patience.

You've got more than one expensive hobby. I am impressed.

10s in the quarter ? Holy Shit Markie --that thing is a beast !!! congrats

@marpow glad to see you got the beast going!

My (now departed) Z28 would do high 11's with good fat rubber. With street radials 12's. But having only a 10 bolt rear I really was afraid of running those (borrowed) ET drag slicks and blowing the thing apart. Never did spring for a 12 bolt rear.
I had all the suspension mods, welded in SFC's, STB, etc.
Long tube headers, modded throttle body, stock cam , tune, 3500 stall Yank converter. I actually had the dealer put the converter in for me as I have no lift. Took me a weekend to get the old factory headers off and the long tubes on. If I had an acetylene torch that would have went quicker...darn bolts!
I wired in a switch to the ECM so I could run the electric fans on manual when waiting in a long staging lane with the engine off.

When I retired I traded it in for a Grand Cherokee for my wife. Gotta love those hemi's!

Great story.
I'll be honest, I am nervous about going to track on this coming Weds, My nightmare of breaking loose and hitting the wall.
I used Drag Radials on a set of Weld wheels last year and gave it full gas on light and never was worried.
I purchased a pair of slicks on Monday, not sure if I'll get them and on by Weds?
Even with the drag radials on the car when I leave home it is a little nerve racking driving home from Sonoma and the wet fog over the Golden Gate.
My friend races a 36 Chevy pick up and I am trying to get him to carry the slicks with a floor jack up to Sonoma and swap wheels at the track.
I am running a HPTuned E85 pump gas but have a standardized product in 5 gallon pails Boostane E85 Race Fuel
The tuner who is in El Paso, I will be sending data and he will be sending back corrected data.
Lots for me to be nervous about, my head is ready to explode.

I think I might take up fishing, from the banks, no boat, that sounds relaxing, no gears or amps.

You running Nitto's? They take a little care on wet roads for sure, I have some experience with that brand. Hella traction, though at the track.
Having your track tires hauled to the track sounds like a great idea.
Don't you guys have any tuners in Cali? I'm out of the loop on who does what these days. We had a pretty good tuner in Brandon, FL back in the day I used.

Also I would have a good harness in the car, stock seat belts are sort of ....eh.

I am curious you two:
@splinter and @splinter7

What does splinter mean and why one splinter and the other 7 ?

My name is part first name and part last name.

We looked at each other and thought: how could we create the most confusion with the least effort. And that is how it came to be. I am still waiting for a discussion though where we present totally opposite arguments on the same topic and switch sides all the time and people always wonder which one said what 😉

But as for the true history of the nickname, which I use since the late 1990s in different forms throughout the Internet: it is derived from the song "Splintering Heart" by Marillion, which has a quite emotional finale, which you should give listen if you don't know it.

And there's a burning and freezing
And a cross for a kiss
So she learns to stop dreaming
And you know how it is

With these fragments of love
And this splintering heart
With the fragments
And this splintering heart

The song sparked my interest in post-Fish Marillion and was also lyrically appealing to me at an age where I thought I understand the sentiment, which is why it came to mind when I looked for a "meaningful" alias.

If "splinter" is already taken - which curiously was not the case here - I usually use "splintering".

Interestingly in all these years no one ever asked me about it.
