Looking at those Specs it looks possible.

I'll leave it to you to do a web search to see if anyone has run LibreElec on that box. If nothing can be found, see if you can find Linux users.

https://forum.libreelec.tv/thread/25719-performance-on-celeron-n5105-is-quite-poor/

It looks very promising. Worth a try. If it doesn't work you can then get an Intel NUC. But you'd need to be quick to get of from US as NUC8 stocks are depleting.

Check the UK 2nd hand market, ebay etc

Thank you. I would rather go for a known working solution rather than fiddle with troubleshooting, so please sign me up for round 2.

A thought... I currently use a windows pc with asio4all to aggregate 2 x hdmi outputs together into 2 x 7.1 avrs to run a cheap 5.1.4 setup playing up-remixes, 360RA and Atmos saved as wavpack. I note the NUC has 1xhdmi plus display port (and therefore hdmi with an adapter) via usb-c. This could therefore potentially do the same if Kodi on windows will work with asio. Even better if librelec can output to 2xhdmi using jack, although I don't know if this is possible/where to start.

What player are you using now? Foobar? I don't think you can add the channel mapping to Kodi like you can in apps like Foobar2000 and jRiver.

Yes, Foobar - which I can control via an app on my phone, but it would be great to use the kodi interface. Before I installed ceiling speakers, I used kodi on a RPi
