Continuing with the 80's NOS sealed LPs I found this gem that , even though it's not translucent vinyl, it's a DMM mastering...
Typical bright 80's production...found it SEALED for about $14....
Always loved the single from this album and I remember a flatmate from Boston bought it on CD...found out they are still together (I am guessing still waiting for a star to fall!) and that they have written hits for Whitney Houston ( I wanna dance with somebody) and others..
SIZZLING sound! still getting used to the Shibata sound, and I think it does not sound as good as the Ortofon OM30...

This is an interesting environment/location recording: in 1976 Paul Horn and his assistant engineer hauled a Nagra tape deck & recording gear up inside the Pyramid of Giza to The King's Chamber, along with his flutes.

The natural reverb is astounding, and the booklet explaining the ordeal they went through to record there is fascinating to read.

Also fascinating: the stone sarcophagus at the head of The King's Chamber is tuned to A-438. Paul raps his hand on it a few times at the beginning so we can hear it as a reference, and his flutes are tuned to A-438 as well.

 I wonder if that is where Nik Turner (ex-Hawkwind) got the idea from for Nik Turner's Sphynx - Xitintoday in 1978? An 'interestingly' strange album!

I've been in that chamber.
I need this record!
Bad-ass.

and then Mrs Tina Tahrner (like they call her in Spain) in a ...Fixx LP? , ever seen the credits? Cy Curnin and Jamie West-Oram all over! Even Jeff Beck (RIP) in a couple of songs!!! We even have a KCrimson ckonnection, Mel Collins in the Sax!
Unfortunately it's cut in a way that it starts too early for my LT TT but hey...it sounds heavenly, I'd say it's an extremely loud cut but it's on brown translucent vinyl which helps it immensely!

I bought this just for Beck's work on the title track. Just incredible, as always.
