I don't know if that is what the rules allow given that the ref didn't actually spot the ball as you have noted.

I don't either but can't remember that ever happening before, typically you have to allow the Ref to spot the ball and that takes a few moments because they have to look at the Line Judge to see where the proper spot should actually be.
I don't know which official that is who comes running in and touches the ball without ever looking at the Line Judge, he ends up on the defensive side of the ball which is not where the Ref lines up at all and he is not wearing the white hat of the Referee/crew chief.

this old man is still employed and getting up at 4 thirty AM so halftime was my limit for the Lions game. My take from what I viewed and / or read - the defense played good. The offense ?
C+ grade. Enough with the cutesy ******** when in the redzone ! Terrible offensive play calling. Our stud running back David Montgomery is still on IR and boy is he sorely missed. He is central to a fine tuned offense. The Lions are a good team but they need to get healthy and they need to play much better if they intend to make a playoff run.
The helmets were nice but did not match with the gray. They shoulda wore the white uniforms.

a note to Bobman - Bob - the Packers have been on top for 20 plus years. Theyve had a good run but its now rebuild time. The Pack will be back. Just not right away and Im not sure if Jordan is the man to get them there. Your pain may linger a few years but that is a lot better than 57 years of pain The positive in this ? It will be easier to score tix to Lambeau..............

a note to Sonik - Sunday morn is going to be fun !! The German crowd is incredible ---and what a tremendous match up. Chiefs - Dolphins. Im really looking forward to this game and maybe - just maybe - She will be there also ;)

I was just thinking about the KC / Denver game. Miami put up 70 on the Broncos, yet Mahomes and the Chiefs couldn't score a TD? And the vaunted Niners defense has been getting carved up like a turkey on thanksgiving? Weird league...very weird. At least the Lions and Ravens have looked good...so far, anyway.

You're a successful self employed business man. Egads! Can't you let your employees open the shop some times?

And I just noticed after the Chiefs/Dolphins one week later its the Colts/Patriots at the same stadium.

I did like the helmets of the Lions. The two stripes reminded me of a Ford Mustang Badge? Was that real? The actual Lion was too skinny
Markie
you're a carguy. I knew you would catch that. Yes - it come from the Ford Mustang. The Lion is skinny as that was the design in the 60s ( birth of Mustang )

we run a lean ship here Sonik and ? my employees are Lions fans too. I let them come in later ---they deserve it more than me

hey, one more thing regarding last nights game. watch this video. watch the end of it. The Lions need to sign this lady to the team.
Perhaps linebacker ? She is a stud

Yes, I noticed that also. She grabbed him & pulled him up there.
Btw, it appears Gibbs was doing a rip-off of the Lambeau leap🤔....
To me, it appears Lions didn't miss Montgomery too much. Gibbs is a great back! In the game against GB this year, I could see that! How many rushing yrds. did he have....
Congratulations Ricky, the Loins look to be a playoff bound, home game team.
Detroit maybe the 1st or 2nd best team , right now, in the NFC.
I'd like to see them play Philly..... That would be a great game! ..better start working on some way to stop Phillys QB sneak!

DMo is a power back. He is a straight ahead runner. Gibbs is a dancer. You cannot finesse and dance in the red zone

More Jets ranting:

1) Before the Giants touchdown, they sacked QB DeVito on third down. That would have been 4th down, and Gano would have tried a field goal (making the score Jets 7 Giants 6) had Jermaine Johnson not taking an absolutely horrid roughing-the-passer penalty. He nailed DeVito well after the whistle had blown.

"Tommy DeVito with a 6-yard TD on a zone-read keeper. Jets helped the Giants with a pair of unnecessary roughness penalties, including a particularly egregious one by Jermaine Johnson turning fourth-and-goal at the 10 into first-and-goal at the 5."

2) Then there was this one:

"With 7:59 remaining in the fourth quarter, the Jets were set to receive a punt from the Giants’ eight-yard line. The green and white were down 10-7 about to be in prime field position to tie the game or possibly win it in the fourth quarter. Instead, defensive lineman Micheal Clemons was cited for a neutral zone infraction which gave Big Blue the first down. That penalty ended up costing the Jets over 5 minutes of game action."

If you had actually seen the plays, you'd wonder how these Jet players could be so foolish.

How about some Giant rants:

1) Gano misses a 35 yard field goal with 24 seconds left. That kick was a whole yard two yards longer than an extra point. Ugh.

2) Zach Wilson could not do a damn thing for 59:36 of the game. Then the Giants pass defense crowns him Mahomes-For-A-Day during the last 24 seconds. They have a third string QB in there with Saquon carrying the load like I've never seen him do during his years in the NFL...against a very good defense. The depleted Giants' offense manages to take advantage of Jet mistakes to take and then hold the lead with their third string QB. And then the kicker / defense blows the game with 24 seconds left? WTF?
Jets WON!

True... Something else I took away from last nights game, being a Packer fan was how poorly the Raiders used Devonte Adams.
He was open so many times.. I know Jimmy G didn't have a lot of time back there but just throw it towards Adams. Jimmy G takes too long to get rid of ball.
Adams will come down with it more often than not!
That's what Rodgers would do, regardless! Rodgers sort of over did it but it worked.
A good friend of mine used to text me during the games, ' All Adams, all the time'....
it usually worked till they played a good team in the playoffs....(SF or TB)
