tell ya what, SDE, I'll buy you if the new SW Atmos mix makes the 'Perpetual Change' middle crossfade occur across the left-right plane (as on the brilliant original mix) instead of the front-back plane (where SW decided to be 'creative').

(yeah, that probably won't happen, so, probably not going to bother.)
Exactly! And I also feel precisely the same about the guitar/organ at the start of YIND, and the guitar solo at the very end of ST. Much as I adore the surround mixes overall, front/back is not as good at these moments as left/right. To my old ears, raised on the originals from way back i the day! 😇😇😇

Do people actually utilize both the vinyl and the Blu-Ray if they happen to have both the setups, even if it strictly Stereo?

Like how do go about deciding, "today I'll spin the vinyl", even though most probably it was cut from a digital master.

Sticking to the topic, I too have just ordered the Yes album Blu-Ray with the 5.1 mix.

I actually do, but I still prefer vinyl and optical discs to be sold separately.
I decide mainly by my vicinity to my various systems. When Baggins Jr. is watching Super Kitties on the HTS, I spin a lot of records on the hi-fi...

When the vinyl is the only choice and the closest source to the master - which happens when the full digital master is withheld and only released in volume war mastered CD format. This stinks and is under duress, mind you! I'd prefer an unmolested digital copy. (My vinyl rig is pretty reference quality too!) Usually the vinyl is a novelty release and that has little to do with chasing the sound of the original master. I'm after the original master as the artist heard and approved coming off the mastering desk, so that's how that all hits me.

Yeah...
If they're just repackaging those two '71 live soundboards we've all had copies of for 30 years. $99 is a decent amount for a new mix when we have that 2014 5.1 already. (Was that really 9 years ago?! What's happening...) They would have me hook, line, and sinker if they included some new live material! If it was the full '71 show with Bruford that only had two tracks on Yessongs and mixed to surround by Steve Wilson I'd probably throw $200 down without even blinking! As it stands I'll be waiting for a $50 (at the most) copy off Ebay down the road.

I actually do! (in the very few cases I have the same album in different formats - as I said before, I'm not a collector, but I precisely have both the 1st vinyl press and the Audio Fidelity SACD of "Going for the One", and I still play both on a regular basis). Plus, I read on SHF that the upcoming vinyl it's an AAA cut by Bernie Grundman, so it would make sense if you want a somewhat different audio experience. However, just like @edisonbaggins, I'd prefer vinyl and digital discs to be sold separately.

According to this write up, the 5.1 mix on the blu-ray is actually the same 2014 SW mix previously released. That means the only new surround mix in this package is the Atmos. Since I already own the 2014 CD/BD set, this is not worth $100 to me.
I also think those 5.1 mixes are the same as the 2014 set but Rhino's write up indicated:

Wilson features the 2014 remixed The Yes Album and instrumental versions of all six album tracks in the upcoming Super Deluxe Edition. In addition, the Blu-ray disc offers four new mixes of The Yes Album, including two versions in 5.1 Surround Sound, the 2023 Remaster, and the Dolby Atmos Mix.
Blu-Ray

- 2023 Steven Wilson Dolby Atmos Mix

- 2023 Steven Wilson 5.1 Mix DTS-HD MA

- 2023 Steven Wilson 5.1 Mix LPCM

- 2023 Stereo Remaster

Personally I think they are wrong about the two 5.1 mixes being new but that's what it says.

Also, the quotes from Steven Wilson state that he used his 5.1 mix as the starting point for the new Atmos mix, but he never says that he created a new 5.1 mix for this release. Everyone can make their own choice, certainly, but I think Rhino missed an opportunity to create a new, truly definitive release of this album, and made a mistake in bundling in unwanted vinyl which only inflates the price and adds little to no value for most potential buyers.

Why would Steven Wilson want to creat a new 5.1 mix? He nailed his first 5.1 mix perfectly IMO. I’ll stick to the 2014 5.1 mix thank you at the price of the new box set. I already have a few box sets with LP’s included that have never been opened.

Ordered yesterday off Amazon. Looking forward to both Blu-ray for the Dolby Atmos mix and the all analog cut vinyl. I’m so happy they packaged the vinyl with the box but I would have no problem purchasing it separately for the winers that don’t want it included. 😜
