Your right, the price always starts up higher at first then just before it ships, I usually get a notice of how much money I saved on a certain title. I don't know how that's determined or what rules they go by.

Pull out the lone multitrack from the '71 show - where the two tracks on Yessongs come from - and mix the whole show in surround and then we'll talk!
If it was the full '71 show with Bruford that only had two tracks on Yessongs
According to Wikipedia, that's February 1972, Fragile tour. Also, the full multis were never found, if I'm not mistaken.

Is this release from the studio version or from a live concert?
There is some live content on the CD's. The star of the show is on the bluray, which contains the studio album with an Atmos mix.

Remastered Sound, Rarities, Two Previously Unreleased Concerts, And A New Dolby Atmos Mix By Steven Wilson

"The Yes Album represents to me the invention of 70's Yes. This was aided by leaving outside material off the record and heavily investing in the influences we brought together, particularly the arrangement skills and utilizing the available best technology.

Our adventurism shows in the originality of the music and lyrics, as none of us had done anything quite like this before. " - Steve Howe

“It’s wonderful to know that 50 years later our music is still appreciated. It was a “make or break” time for the band on many levels. The harmony within the band was really special at that time, and it came through in the music.” - Jon Anderson

Take a deep dive into Yes’ third studio album with a boxed set that presents a newly remastered version of THE YES ALBUM expanded with rarities, two previously unreleased concerts, and fresh mixes by Steven Wilson, including an immersive Dolby Atmos Mix.

THE YES ALBUM (SUPER DELUXE EDITION) includes Steven Wilson’s newly remastered version of the original album on both CD and LP. Two previously unreleased concerts from 1971 will debut in the set as well. The first was recorded just a few weeks before THE YES ALBUM was released, while the second was recorded six months later during the band’s U.S. tour. These remarkable performances include live versions of songs from the album, such as “Yours Is No Disgrace” and “Perpetual Change,” as well as “Astral Traveller” and “Everydays” from the previous album, TIME AND A WORD (1970).

Wilson features the 2014 remixed THE YES ALBUM and instrumental versions of all six album tracks in the upcoming SUPER DELUXE EDITION. In addition, the Blu-ray disc offers four new mixes of THE YES ALBUM, including two versions in 5.1 Surround Sound, the 2023 Remaster, and the Dolby Atmos Mix.

Initially released in the U.K. on February 19, 1971, it was the group’s - Jon Anderson, Chris Squire, Tony Kaye, Bill Bruford, and Steve Howe - first album to feature all-original material and introduced signature epics like “Starship Trooper” and “I’ve Seen All Good People.” The album peaked at No.4 in the U.K. and was the group’s first to crack the Top 40 in the U.S., where it would eventually be certified platinum.

I am also very curious about the quality of the New Haven live performance. A high quality bootleg of that show has circulated among collectors for years. It's a killer performance. I will be interested to see if the official release sounds any better than the bootleg.

Apparently they were the first act to play that day on a triple bill. They opened for a band called Decibel Death. Grand Funk headlined. Apparently Yes stole the show.

Will the 5.1 mix be new or is it the 2014 mix. Conflicting reports on this. Anyone know for sure?

"Two Previously Unreleased Concerts"

So not a reissue of:
1971-07-31 Crystal Palace Bowl, London, England
1971-07-24 The Yale Bowl, New Haven, CT

Soundboard recordings shared for years and released a couple times too (including some partially on the last TYA bluray Wilson mix edition).

Two unreleased shows that are not those two?!
Yeah, I bet that's bs and it's the same two soundboard recordings again. Very much hope I'm wrong!

It tracks that the tapes from the end of the Fragile tour are genuinely lost I suppose. At this point one would think they would certainly release that show if they were able. What can I say... I just want anything and everything I can get my ears on from the big 5 man lineup (ie with Bruford & Wakeman)!

According to the SDE site, this new package contains the following:

It features a vinyl LP, four CDs and a blu-ray audio and offers a new Dolby Atmos Mix of the 1971 album from Steven Wilson. His previous 5.1 mix and a hi-res stereo mix are also included on the blu-ray (but not the original mix of the album). On CD are two previously unreleased concerts, the instrumentals and new stereo mix (from 2014), 20 tracks of rarities and the original mix of the album (which is also on the vinyl in this set).

(Steven) Wilson shares his insights into the new mixes in the set’s sleeve notes: “For the Atmos Mix, I used my 5.1 as a starting point but found myself taking quite a different approach on some parts of the music, partly by virtue of now having the extra speakers to place the sounds in, but also because I’ve learned a few things in the nearly ten years since I first remixed the album…

So no, there aren't two 5.1 mixes - just the 2014 5.1 mix and a new Atmos mix based on the older 2014 5.1 mix. The 2014 CD/BD release is still available for much less than this new set, but if you really want the Atmos mix, vinyl and think all the bonus tracks are must have, then this new set is what you want. For me, since I already own the 2014 CD/BD set, the only thing I'm interested in is the new Atmos mix. I might be persuaded that the two live concerts plus the Atmos make it worth the high asking price but I'm waiting for reviews. Unless the performances and CD recording quality are both absolutely stellar (doubtful), I'm just not that interested in more live Yes.

Perhaps the 2014 5.1 is presented in instrumental form, as well? Or the 2023 Atmos, with its tweaks, is being put on the disc as a 5.1 DTS-HD MA or Dolby TrueHD downmix?

Some additional clarity from theseconddisc.com:

The Super Deluxe Edition of The Yes Album presents the album in various mixes:
  • CD 1 and the vinyl LP both have Steven Wilson's newly-remastered version of the original album;
  • CD 2 has Wilson's 2014 stereo and instrumental remixes of the album;
  • CD 3 has a host of rarities including the single versions of "Your Move" and "Starship Trooper," mono mixes of the album's tracks, and a previously unreleased alternate of "Starship Trooper;"
  • CD 4 has live tracks recorded in 1971 from Gothenburg, Sweden and New Haven, Connecticut; and
  • The Blu-ray has Steven Wilson's new Dolby Atmos mix plus the 2023 stereo remaster and two presentations (DTS-HD Master Audio and LPCM) in 5.1 surround.
So this simply means you are getting the 2014 SW 5.1 mix in two audio formats, not two different 5.1 mixes. The listing goes on to remind readers that this new package cannot be considered a definitive release:

Eagle-eyed fans will note that much of the material on Panegyric's Wilson-helmed 2014 CD/BD edition has not been reprised here including some different live tracks and singles; fans are advised to hold onto that edition.
