Sorry, my apologies - I thought it was Rustyandi that started it and Mark Anderson and others confirmed it with their sleuthing. It's possible it's spread out on more than one post and I only saw one. My sincere thanks to anyone involved for finding it at any rate and thanks for pointing it out Fizzy :smokin
Ron did start the slueth, Mark received Moulton's reply to his question.Wanted to quote it but my device or most likely the operator (me), still needs to find out how.
Great pics by the way, is the Bellson SQ, ? or....

Adam, given your SQ/QS odyssey has begun, I wonder if you'd care to indulge in a fantasy covers compilation challenge? I just listened to 'Take Me To The Pilot' on 'Charge!' and it's awesome - so quad it's almost ticklish with a soaring quartet of trumpets and trombones freestyling against each other throughout and I'd vote it to open a Quad Elton John covers album. I'll throw in number two as well - 'Rocket Man' from the 'John Keating Space Experience' SQ album because the vibes are immense (and the fonts are Helvetica). Obviously any other QQers should pitch in, just I'm aware of Adam's fondness for Reg.

Oh lummee..!! I just have to have those..!!!!! :yikes

The Louis Bellson is QS, decodes very closely to the quad reel version of the same album. Here's a picture of the dead wax, there's only writing on one side, the other side runs right up the tiniest bit of wax.

Inquadwetrust,

Thanks big time. You have renewed my interest in PROJECT 3 Quads! I'll keep an eye out for that BELLSON disc for certain!

That's an incredible quad info link, Fredblue

Interesting to see John Cale in the QUAD RECORDING STUDIO.I wonder what quad tapes we don't know about by artists, actually exist in CBS' S vaults?

I really think what we know about already (whether it made it out to stores or remained in eternal pre-order limbo, announced or listed but never released) is only a fraction of the music that has been mixed into Quad and 5.1 over the years..

A fine LP...Good seperation in all four channels. A must for any Quad collection. Especially if you like Santana...

Larry Keyes is there again! (To the tune of "Happy days are here again"..!)
I have the Caravanserai Sony Japan SACD (stereo only.. Pah! Spit!) but the SQ LP is now on my shopping list :)
I'll keep an eye out for you , Adam.

From time to time this shows up in the used record stores. It sure was plentiful here back in the 70's (new ones that was).

I think I'll be alright, there's a fella in the UK has it, I'm negotiating on best price in a bundle of other SQ goodies.. taking it up a notch now :)

Just in case anyone's interested.. Side one here is pressed HOT!! :flame (Much hotter than Side 2.. it's bright and loud! Left channel on 1st two tracks of Side 1 is clipping like crazy too, according to Audacity.. I may have to EQ it somewhat or do something.. once I've decoded it!) Woo! What a record though! Every home should have one! :D

I reckon the Quad will be good on this one.. the intro to Spy For Brotherhood even through PLII Music is a hoot!
PLII is doing its best job to get the footsteps going panning round the room, it nearly does it too.. and then steer the plane from front to back.. it's a great effect but properly decoded I can only imagine.. it should be wonderful!

Ship Ahoy - The O'Jays (SQ LP).

I've got the Surround SACD already but I figured for £3 this would make a good SQ Test disc for things like instrument placement and channel panning etc, seeing as I know the album and Quad mix pretty well now it'd make a good point of reference.

"Put Your Hands Together!" :p
