I wanted to own the Boston SACD but I've heard it sounds really bad..

My impression of the Boston disc is that it's just... underwhelming, I guess. If anyone told you it's really bad, they were probably just really disappointed. I'd bet if it could be done these days, with some better people involved and with the likely improvements in the overall process, it could sound great.

Crank it up and pipe it thru PLII..! :brew Beer helps! :friday:

Thanks - I might just try that. I do like the disc; I wouldn't give it up, that's for sure.

If you're never gonna give it up (never gonna give, never gonna give!) don't forget this one..

Rick Astley on SACD.. man.. that's just why I turned onto the Hi-Res highway in the first place! Ha! :p

Happy New Year to all my mates at QQ! :wave

(p)Rick Astley - I'm never gonna hear it again.... and its "Smeareo" only... :D

Oh, I rather like it.. it'd be better in M/C (of course!) but still I prefer it to the old EK34188 cd I've had since the early 90's and the SACD pans out rather nicely in PLII to boot! G'waan, go for it and you'll be smokin' baby I'm not jokin'! :D

Not at the current prices..it's just not worth $50 and up...at $20 I'd take a chance...but that's my limit on something like that..

Finally got hold of the last 2 Porcupine Tree DVD-As I didn't have - In Absentia and Deadwing from Japan! Only played the CDs so far - looking forward to the 5.1s over the weekend.

So the DVD-A versions of Close to the Edge and the Yes Album showed up today. I've listened to the stereo versions and been pretty happy. I look forward to running the surround mixes tommorow on my SF club's surround system.

Great sound quality; very annoying mix!!!!!!!!!

Drums in rear right channel, absolutely stupid choice. This is not a 4 track recording from the 60's. Ridiculous. Totally ruins it for me.
