Did the Amazon ASIN look-up thing and there it was!

But I've got one better:

Typical of Amazon, if you look up what you'd expect to be the logical way it would be listed - The Who Who's Next or The Who Who's Next Box Set, the new box set isn't shown. However, if you enter "The Who Super Deluxe Edition" it's magically there to be pre-ordered. Go figure, Amazon sometimes has weird ways of identifying items.

Here's the direct link for Amazon US:

If you just throw money away, Amazon is the site to order it. I like a Bargain, the best I ever had....

If you feel good about ordering from them, kudos to you. I hope your order comes out A-OK and you've saved some money.

But for me, spending ~$50 more for piece of mind in buying from a known, trustworthy source is well worth it. And with Amazon's pre-order pricing policy, if/when the price comes down, savings will be passed on.

You want to know what a real travesty is? I'll tell you what it is. My wife asked me a couple of weeks ago what I wanted for my birthday. Having forgotten about the release date for this set, I told her "luggage." Can you imagine the birthday grief of getting luggage instead of this bloated box set? The horror...the horror. 😵‍💫

And from resellerratings.com:

https://www.resellerratings.com/store/GROOVES_INC
Ratings: A 1.92/5 and a 1.68/5 - hmm, great track record.

But looking as 2 more review sites -

https://www.complaintsboard.com/groovesland-b132738
0 out of 23 complaints resolved by the company.

And another -

https://www.trustpilot.com/review/www.grooves.land
They have better on trustpilot but still a lot of complaints on not getting orders, wrong items sent, etc. getting them a "poor" rating overall.

If you feel good about ordering from them, great for you! I hope your order comes out A-OK and you've saved some money.

And, it's out of stock! Here's hoping Amazon will use Grooves.land to lower their price!

Thank you for posting the link. I used up all my Amazon gift cards I've been saving up ever since we heard first word of the Atmos mix. Total came to $47.

Apologies for quoting you in my earlier post regarding the graphic novel, obviously you were referring to the other 100-page hardback book "designed by Richard Evans with an introduction by Pete Townshend and new sleeve notes by compilers Andy Neil and Matt Kent giving an overview of this classic album as well as rare photos and memorabilia from the era."
Yes, I was thinking of the Andy Neil and Matt Kent book. I didn't go back and re-read the box description before I posted. Sorry for the confusion.

Great way to go, although it’s still costs you, in an “opportunity cost” sort of way; but as far as opportunities, it may be the best you ever had! :)

I have never ordered from Groovesland but pm'ing users and asking them if it is legitimate, they say Groovesland delivers and just as quickly as other more expensive sites. But then again, some people also paid over $3000 for the Lexicon BD-30 Universal player that contained the guts of the $550 Oppo Digital UDP-203. If you think paying more money for anything makes you feel more comfortable, ok...

@Rango you put a lot of what I've been thinking about lately in regards to these releases into words—I appreciate the objectivity and effort to see if from multiple sides... that's all I'm trying to do too, just figure out "what exactly is going on here from a business standpoint?" of course followed by "and what will that then mean for the future of this hobby/these kind of releases?"

But in terms of the question who will buy what, I think we have a relevant case study in the form of the Dark Side of The Moon SDE that just came out. There was a very parallel discussion going on both here and at Hoffman, and I think an even stronger chorus of "this is mainly a retread of the Immersion set and not even as good, except that pearl in the oyster of the Atmos mix."

Dark Side was similar in physical heft and price point, way less appealing in terms of true "new" content (I think pretty easy to argue, this coming from a Floyd completist), and following on the heels of a SDE of the same title (that is arguably better) only 12 years prior. So in a few ways, it maybe had even less going for it.

I myself asked "who is this for?" "Who will buy this?" But whoever they were and for whatever reason, buy it they did. Seemed to sell out and now the official Floyd shop is touting limited additional numbers available... kinda feels like whatever they were hoping to accomplish, they did. Maybe Who's Next isn't exactly on par with Dark Side in the overall zeitgeist, but it's gotta be damn close. Time will tell...

Epilogue: I bought Dark Side 50, kept the Atmos disc to put into my Immersion box, and easily sold the remainder for a great price to a chap who had no interest in the Atmos. Win-win, and my Immersion box feels like it's the best of all worlds now.

Pre-ordered Who's Next too, because it's super important to me—I don't have any of the other Who SDEs and am not really interested. I expect I'll hang onto the lot of it. Was easier to pull the trigger since I had a sizable gift card balance due to having been sent a fake of the Bowie Five Years box a few weeks ago. Gotta stay vigilant with these things!

As many, I have been contemplating the price point of the Who's Next / Lighthouse Super Deluxe Edition. I thought about the 7,000 copies of The Hurting that SDE sold, so we know there are at least 7K of us immersionists around the globe... and probably at least another 3K that didn't jump on the TFF bandwagon. Hopefully more. I have no idea how many of these they plan to print, but even at 5,000 copies at retail price (5,000 x 300 = 1,500,000) and take off possibly as much as 50% for the retailer markup... that is $750,000 US. So, my thought is did it cost UMG that kind of dough to put this whole set together from start to finish including manufacturing? I don't have the answer to this, but lately the prices of these box sets has gotten out of hand IMO, including the Rush, Kiss and the Floyd, and now that makes the massive King Crimson box sets look like a steal.
