Here's the info on the Yes SACD box set... :zzzzz
If anyone's curious here's the mastering info for the set:

Anybody find it weird that it was mastered at 96/24, THEN converted to DSD? Why not just master it as DSD from the start?

i would rather ask - why in the hell someone used DSD at all?
these albums was recorded on analog tapes, thus were converted into PCM.
just re-master in digital domain and use them as is in HiRez PCM on DVD or BD-A.
since there aren't surround mix, there even no need in DVD-A and i guess every
Yes fan, who will buy this, already has DVD or Blu Ray player.
so more appropriate will be to ask "Anybody find it weird that it limited to very small
segment of the market with SACD players" :)

This is a WEA Japan project, and I expect it's independent from the 5.1 remix/remastering project involving Steve Wilson, taking place in the west.

I find it kind of pointless, not only because of the gimmicky use of DSD .

Also, these are not remixes, even though there is a prominent 'REMIXER' credit on the linked page. The *mastering* engineer , it appears , will be Isao Kikuchi, who did the old mini-LP versions. They were highlly variable in mastering quality.

Agreed on both points. Releasing this as 'SACD" is disengenuous at best. 2.0 NON-reMIXED issues? Who cares? We already bought the Gastwirt remasters and the Japanese mini-paper sleeves... Sounds like no difference in sound quality from what has been sold many times already. To get any improvement remixing from the multi-tracks is needed, especially on Relayer & Tormato.

Why not just sell us the 5.1 remixes now???:smokin
