I assume this is referring to Porcupine Tree's In Absentia and Deadwing? The vast majority of his work does not exhibit the 'loudness war' sound, those are definitely outliers in that regard. In fact - based on how sonically-pristine most of his other surround mixes are (highlights for me include America Homecoming, Beck Sea Change, and the recently-released Madeleine Peyroux Let's Walk), I'd be willing to bet that the original files he turned in for mastering sounded better than what was actually released - but of course there's no way to prove that.Scheiner's mixes in my opinion are super-hot and way too discrete.
