I thought I had read somewheres that both Tales and Drama were being considered and then somehow GFTO and Tales were to come next, so given that I'm unsure of the order of release schedule, I could be out to lunch with my release order (could be the drugs?).

And HERE, HERE to your profound wish of 4-5 YES surrounds per annum!

I second that motion, wholly and completely.

Afterall, they do have a large catalogue of tasteful wonders to come.

No no no! The origin of those rumours are Steven Wilson's response to a question of mine on the Steven Wilson section...

On Tales:

I did start on Tales a couple of years back, but honestly it's not really up to me when and if more are released, and right now I don't have any more tapes anyway. (...) A lot of work was done on Tales before the focus shifted to the "hit" albums, so I hope at least that one will eventually get a green light.

On Going For The One:

I believe that the multitrack tapes for Going for the One are currently not available.

On Drama:

I really hope Tales and Drama will eventually be done, they are (perhaps somewhat perversely) my 2 favourite Yes albums.

On 90125 and 80s Yes:

Although I'm a fan of the Trevor Horn fronted Yes, I can't really say the same of the albums that he produced for them (too much AOR for me), so that wouldn't be something for me. But there are other Trevor Horn productions from that era that I would love to do, such as Slave to the Rhythm, or A Secret Wish.

Fish Out of Water has been mixed in 5.1, but unfortunately not by Steven.

Thanks for the confirmation. :) The late Chris Squire said that it had been mixed but he was skeptical on a release, he said that 'Atlantic was mostly a rap label now..." implying their lack of interest in the project. That made me confused since surely the rights to F.O.O.W. had reverted back to Chris and he would just need a label to put it out. Since Burning Shed are happily churning out as many YES releases as possible.... well, where is the problem???

IIRC, publishing rights from ASCAP or BMI terminate after 25 years for music of that period. So the music should have been Chris Squire's to do what he wished with.

Maybe Chris had sold back the rights at some point??? Anybody have any ideas?

I'm not so worried about who mixed it. I just wanna know one thing. When can I buy it??? :music

Burning Shed are simply an online store where the Yes releases are concerned. The label is Panegyric, and Burning Shed host their official online store.
But concerning "Fish Out of Water", I think the only label that would have both an interest in a reissue of the album with 5.1 surround and would do the release justice would be a label under the Cherry Red Records label, like Esoteric or Atomhenge. Their recent reissues of albums like "Warrior on the Edge of Time" and "The Geese & The Ghost" have shown me that they would not only have the skill but the passion to release the best reissue possible for an album like "Fish Out of Water".

Good God, I hope it wasn't mixed in 5.1 by Roger King… :violin
Maybe it was Tim Weidner, who originally mixed "Fragile" and "Magnification" in surround.

I'm not sure how much I'm allowed to say at this point, but it was indeed mixed by Tim Weidner...

Ohhh.. the plot thickens.. :yikes
(I like his mixes of Fragile for the most part, I know next to nobody else here does.. I suspect the knives are only gonna get deeper into his version of Fragile when SW's rendition is out there for all to hear.. but I'd bet a number of QQ-ers would fall over themselves to hear this 5.1 Fish no matter who remixed it! This revelation (combined with the late Mr. Squire's comments about Atlantic.. does make you wonder just what else labels like Warner had remixed into 5.1 all those years ago that we have no idea about.. I'm guessing there's a LOT of stuff.. how much of it we will ever ultimately hear is of course verrrrrry much up for grrrrrabssssss.. coffee time! :p

Thanks Adam, nothing quite like being called "next to nobody"... :violin

I enjoy my Fragile 2002 DVD-A, becasue I prefer it to no version at all. "Its quite simply a case of non-presence" Special bonus for who can pin point that Monty Python reference...

As poor bastards who work for a living(like me & Colsky) we don't get to chose who mixes our favorite tunes(and we don't even get the majority of them in surround..). Me personally, I think its far past time for artists to sell their multis(with effects) to us so we can do our own mixes. That would stop all the bickering which isn't good for those us who want more remixes! :music

That would be -me-. (y)

There are endless possibilities to mix 16/24/48 tracks into surround. No mix is perfect. We've read the criticism by Alan Parson over James Guthrie's DSOTM mix, yes??? Even with my sacred Steven Wilson 5.1 re-mixes, I wish he would do certain things differently. That will always be the case. Surround music offers too many options to ever have a definitive "mix". I'm willing to give wider latitude to the re-mixer.

Thanks for confirming. I'm not a big fan of his 5.1 mix of "Fragile", simply because I think he took too many liberties with that mix, but his Seal mixes are very good IMO, and he does know how to use the surround channels (unlike Roger King…) so if this mix does indeed get released someday, I'll definitely be in line to check it out! :)

I've never heard of this guy - heck, Wilson should still give it a go and keep Weidner's mix on the Bluray too?! [emoji16]
