Hi Linda,
Looked up the set list, Ruckzuck & Kling Klang were there plus an early version of Showroom Dummies. Cannot remember anymore than that though I guess the band members were stationed at individual keyboards (like now actually), as for a backdrop-no idea at all.

Thanks, magicmarkie! What an INCREDIBLE first concert!! I'm envious. I don't recall them playing live in Chicago back then. Perhaps they passed me by. Schaufenster Puppen, eh? I got into them in '73. Everyone I played them for gave me the same reaction: what the hell is that and where can I get it? Within two years, everyone would be fahn fahn fahn auf der Autobahn. Although I've always been a fan, the early instrumental stuff is still what I like best. I still have my old Philips LP's.

I managed a hifi store in a mega shopping mall when Man Machine was released. We would play it on a system aimed out our open storefront, at the top of an escalator. Mall management and the other merchants weren't happy, but it would draw customers like flies. Once again: what the hell is that and where can I get it?

Keith played keyboards, Greg is bass, guitar and vocals[/QUOTE

Oh shit! there I go again. It's all part of getting old I think. spelling words back words and switching names.
anyway, did Keith do the flip? I'll get it one of these days. I am the original space cadet.

No, Keith didn't do the piano flip at the Richmond show. But Carl's drum riser spun around to reveal cool dragons painted on his gongs (according to my fuzzy memory).

Three Dog Night / Osibisa @ San Diego Sports Arena in August 1971 when I was 13. It was fun but the 2nd & 3rd concerts are the ones that changed my life:

Emerson, Lake & Palmer / Back Door - Feb 21st, 1974 San Diego Sports Arena
King Crimson / The Strawbs - June 19th, 1974 Los Angeles Shrine Auditorium

Update: I met John Wetton at the UK concert in Philadelphia last night.

First concert: 14 years old and saw REM during Fables of the Reconstruction tour in a small theater in Kalamazoo. I attempted to get back stage but they wouldn't let me. However, Peter Buck saw me on the way out to the stage and signed a poster for me! Michael Stipe came out wearing a black skirt. There were like maybe 1000 people there. Excellent show. Later in life I attempted the same trick to get back stage to see Nick Cave. I made a few lewd offers on behalf of me and my female friend but apparently we were not that particular stage hand's type. We did get to see Nick on the way out. What a concert! Didn't get to sleep with Nick Cave. Sad.

The Nice in Centennial Hall in London, Ontario in 1970. I was greatly impressed by both the amoeba light show and Keith Emerson's gymnastics/histrionics over and under his organs.

1st Concert: Manfred Mann's Earth Band 1979 at Portsmouth Guildhall. I still remember it as if it were yesterday.

Most recent: Ian Anderson - Thick as a Brick 1&2 last Sunday, 6th May at Southampton Guildhall.

My first show was Grand Funk Railroad in El Paso, TX back in 1970. Opening act was Bloodrock. I was only 9 years old and was really wowed by the experience. Been a concert fan ever since. Definitely the first time I ever smelled pot.

Would love to hear your take on it. I'm trying to figure out a way to see one of the shows.

My first rock concert was Woodstock Music and Art Fair in Bethel, NY, August 1969. I was 18, 2 months out of high school. The accomodations were very primitive, open sky with occaisional rain, but for the 3 night $18.00 ticket price (which I ended up keeping as a souvenir) it was worth the price.

That is something. Can you tell us a bit more?
