Listened to my J. Geils Blu-ray several times today (DTS 4.0 and 2.0), it was the first time I'd heard the stereo mix (for the past 48 years I've heard the stereo created by the CD-4 quad downmix).

It's amazing how flat the stereo mix sounds compared to the quad mix (I have no doubt that the stereo mix is a good one, it's just that the quad mix is, IMHO, really spectacular).

(I also have the stereo mix of Paranoid on CD, but I don't notice such a dramatic difference between the stereo and quad mixes)

Rejoice, Rejoice, the Quadios are here,
I think I'll listen while I drink a beer.

Seriously, all four showed up in my mailbox. The Sabbath disc was in a separate package.
To be clear I never got any notice/email saying they were on their way or that my order had been fulfilled. So to anyone who had the same experience, there is reason to be hopeful!!
What a relief.
Yeeeeehaaaawwww!!!!
It's probably the best batch of vintage quad to ever get reissued at one time. Even if this 4-bundle rollout has been far from glitch free, I'm still thrilled that a bunch of folks are listening to them.

Also I'm grateful that the Paranoid disc was not one of the ones to get a delayed shipping no notice.

Hope to hear more first impressions of the entire Red Octopus album? A smooth crystal clarity on top end, but muscular rhythmically, and hopping bass lines? It should be another one that blows the stereo mix right out of the water.

This whole album was only recorded on eight-track multitrack tape. So there isn't a massive difference from Stereo to Quad since there simply aren't enough tracks to make a difference. Take it as you will - it's a good thing for some and a bad thing for others. Personally, I like when the Quad and Stereo versions share some similarities. It's often a bit off-putting when they are jarringly different.

So, what are the next four titles?

I'm playing Paranoid Quadio disc again, this time cranked up loud! Loud enough now that my older Infinity rear speakers know that they are being pushed to their near limits.

What an amazing album of performances of course. In quad I don't have the inclination to skip any of the tracks, so much fresher a listen in this mix. I'm one that likes a very strong presence in rear speakers. A nice 4-corner balance is ideal imo.

I'm seeing another box with a second disc there, which one is the other title that you will be hearing in FOUR-CHANNEL Surround from QuadraBluRaydisc? Or did you already mention this?
The second unopened box is my 2nd copy of Paranoid. My backup copy. :) So, I received both copies of Sabbath on the same day. The other 3 (actually 6 with the backup) are arriving tomorrow (Wednesday). They are already in Champaign, which is only 29 miles from my house. Today being a holiday....

Has there been any insider information on how often they plan to do these quadio releases?

Received my copy of Paranoid late yesterday and only had time to listen to about half of it. To me, it's easily the best sound quality I've heard for this title. Really good quad mix with huge soundstage and nice directionality with some panning of drums, guitars and vocals in the rears. Not the biggest Sabbath or Ozzy fan, but this will be getting pretty regular rotation.
