From the website posted earlier in this thread, I saw The Doors listed. I’m not a fan in any way which I imagine puts me in a small group.

But I would be tempted to grab it, so much is my respect and appreciation for what was done with Chicago and the Doobie Brothers.
I just bought an AP Doors title that had the newer mixes that I'm completely regretting. I would grab a Doors in a heartbeat, but I would think they'd TRY to make it a full set, if quads were available for all/most of them. As long as it's with the old mix choices, I'm good.

Honestly - if Rhino said they were starting a subscription service to mine the WEA Quad Archives on Blu-Ray, but they needed to reach a critical mass of subscribers, my hand would be up in a hurry! 🤚
Subscription service--that's a great idea! @ForagingRhino: d'you think you could get anywhere pitching it...?

I will buy two copies of each of the "Crown Jewels" from the Warner quad library if they decide to go with them. At least after all this chitter-chatter everyone knows what the crown jewels are, or has a good clue.

What is interesting is that certain artist's catalogs have moved on from Warners since the 70s, and yet other artists catalogs have arrived after being acquired (with quad masters included) that were not on Warners in the 70s (Chicago, Starship, etc.). The EMI catalog that Warner Music acquired might have some quad titles, and likely there is some more crown jewels on EMI we've not yet considered. Like the Harvest catalog, might be something there still unreleased in quad, no?

It was my understanding that UMG acquired EMI's Popular catalog and WARNER the EMI Classical catalogue which does contain literally hundreds of unreleased ANGEL/EMI QUAD titles. So Harvest would now be under the banner of UMG, not WARNER!

David Bowie is under Warner Brothers now.(the former EMI'S)

As to his quads....they have been released in optical DVDA.

I thought some of the EMI umbrella labels had to be spun off from the UMG acquisition- and therefore WMG was able to acquire them. And that it was not so simple as Uni gets the hot rock stuff and Warner gets the mid-line and near-dead classical. I’m under the impression WMG got the Ten Years After catalog via the Chrysalis catalog. Parlophone (Pet Shop Boys) is yet another example, Warner and not Uni. Correct me if I’ve had this wrong all these years.
(Edit)
Oh and Uni gave up the Pink Floyd cat. (And I thought Harvest as well), so that they could insist the Beatles were theirs's no matter what was going to shake out.

I think you meant Bowie’s 5.1 mixes. But yeah, Warner Music got that catalog as they were not going to pay big bucks for The London Symphony Orchestra and some concertos, and forsake Tull, Floyd, Bowie, and lots of other evergreens during the divvying up the booty.

I was of course referring to the initial dissolution of the Capitol/EMI/Associated labels. What has transpired since then as to who actually owns what is best left to a current google search.

And the 'near~dead' classical market probably represents 8~10% of all music sold worldwide.....sadly, probably the same small percentage of people who actually buy SURROUND music ...but hopefully that IS changing due to an uptick in ATMOS streaming platforms and artists' awareness that everything sounds better in SURROUND!

No, sorry, this was the break-up that was demanded by the regulators to approve the merger of Uni with EMI. Some labels had to be spun off, I've gone over several of those labels. You were incorrect about it being the classical going to WMG and the popular going to Uni. That is not what happened. There was a breaking up and splitting up of the (EMI) assets at the time of the merger, not something or anything happening later since then. Ok, I am done with this.

The Best Of The Doors quad has already been released by Rhino, as part of The Singles set. Is there anything else of The Doors that was ever in quad?

Okay Rhino. Dont drop the ball. Super hyper for one of dem der Hype Stickers !!
We want it and we want it all !!

we're 32 pages or 5 weeks away from the big reveal... 👀 i can't bear the anticipation!! 😬😅
June 23rd, according to F Rhino is the release date, right? Good god please tell me we'll know way before then what the titles actually are.... :hi
What is Rhino's normal pre-order period? Or maybe they don't do pre-orders??

Since this thread is only at 24 pages and we obviously need more before the official announcement, here are my guesses. These are based on the clues we've received so far. 1 Grunt, 1 Atlantic, 2 Warner. I'm sticking strictly with "Warner" since that's what @ForagingRhino said, no Reprise or Capricorn, etc. No optical releases on any. All different artists. But I'm not sure if my guesses fit the "different from the stereo version" catagory. I'm not that familiar with all of these. That said:

Atlantic - likely a Spinners album. My guess would be their 1974 self titled one. Lots of hits and, if Rhino is planning more releases already, it would be perfect to release them in order

Grunt - easy. Jefferson Starship. I'm going to go with Red Octopus. Miracles pushed JS into superstardum again. Play on Love also was a hit, but not quite as big. The album was a bigger seller than Dragonfly, which is definitely a favorite of mine.

Warner 1 - Definitely James Taylor. I'm going to go with Gorilla. Huge album for James. Will be a big seller for Rhino.

Warner 2 - This one is tougher. It's can't be JT's One Man Dog since I picked Gorilla as my other Warner choice. So I'm going with Seals & Crofts Diamond Girl.
.
"Johnny, tell him what he's won!" 🤣

I would love Volunteers since QUAD reel to reel some mixes are different especially Volunteers very acoustic guitar opening if I remember correctly.
Absolutely agree. Curious as to why the quad release performances differs so radically from the original

Your guesses are as good as anyone else’s but my favorite picks would be Gorilla and Volunteers.
