Absolutely agree. Curious as to why the quad release performances differs so radically from the original
They used the wrong takes on 4 of the songs to mix into quad and the albums were pressed before the group realized the mistake. The version of the title cut pales in comparison to the stereo performance. The quad take is sloppy like they are still working out the arrangement. The other three are "Wooden Ships", "We Can Be Together" and "Hey Fredrick". All four appear in stereo on the JA Loves You box set.

The Best Of The Doors quad has already been released by Rhino, as part of The Singles set. Is there anything else of The Doors that was ever in quad?
Ah... wasn’t aware of that release. I guess that one would be ruled out from this upcoming batch of four, then. Thanks.

Since this thread is only at 24 pages and we obviously need more before the official announcement, here are my guesses. These are based on the clues we've received so far. 1 Grunt, 1 Atlantic, 2 Warner. I'm sticking strictly with "Warner" since that's what @ForagingRhino said, no Reprise or Capricorn, etc. No optical releases on any. All different artists. But I'm not sure if my guesses fit the "different from the stereo version" catagory. I'm not that familiar with all of these. That said:

Atlantic - likely a Spinners album. My guess would be their 1974 self titled one. Lots of hits and, if Rhino is planning more releases already, it would be perfect to release them in order

Grunt - easy. Jefferson Starship. I'm going to go with Red Octopus. Miracles pushed JS into superstardum again. Play on Love also was a hit, but not quite as big. The album was a bigger seller than Dragonfly, which is definitely a favorite of mine.

Warner 1 - Definitely James Taylor. I'm going to go with Gorilla. Huge album for James. Will be a big seller for Rhino.

Warner 2 - This one is tougher. It's can't be JT's One Man Dog since I picked Gorilla as my other Warner choice. So I'm going with Seals & Crofts Diamond Girl.

Wow…hadn’t thought about Spinners…that might actually make me faint! 🫠

Maybe they’d pick up the pace of releases if they knew they had a guaranteed number of slobbering maniacs…er…discerning audiophiles to snap up each release? 🤤
I'm not much into quad anymore, more of an Atmos person now, gives me more musical pleasure. The only ones I would consider is Jackson Browne, Stanley Clarke, ZZ Top, Deep Purple and Sabbath.

Whatever the the titles are, we’re all going to need to step up to the plate and buy what you can afford. For years, we have all wanted the best version of these great Quad surround mixes from the vaults. And preserve these unique historic mixes before time itself destroys the tapes.

Now that it’s here, we need to keep the flow of titles going for as long as possible. I’ve always believed that given an opportunity to hear a great Quad mix in pristine quality would showcase surround music’s possibilities to a wide audience.

It was a rumour way back that his first album was mixed in quad but not released. I would love that one.
Hopefully his first album on Nemperor records.

His true first solo album was on Polydor

I have thought about all of these. I believe there are enough quads by Seals and Crofts and The Spinners to do boxes, if the label decides to go there again. I do find it odd that there does not seem to be a quad release for The Spinners' Mighty Love. their second for Atlantic. And I think Red Octopus would be the logical choice for Grunt, though I would love to see Dragonfly or Spitfire. While going through Cashbox archives, I noticed Spitfire reached the top of the album chart (but not in Billboard). That album seems to be mostly forgotten these days.
