I'm definitely getting this set!

For me this is clearly the best release that has been announced thus far!
New 5.1 mix, original Quad mix, and loads of extras over 2 Blu-Ray audio discs?! What more could you want?!
Answer: nothing!

And then there's the "Imagine and Gimme Some Truth" Blu-Ray too, which appears to be another superb release!

Before now, it seemed like Paul was the only one coming up with quality releases, but now John & Yoko have leaped over everyone else to the front of the pack!

Like I have said before, just think what they could do for "All Things Must Pass" (George's best solo album) in 2020 for its 50th bday?!

:)

Order placed!!

I would "plunk" down a pre order now...you have plenty of time to do the research before it's released...you can cancel anytime..

OK, I bit and did the preorder thing, just in case this turns out to be the deal of the year. But for the life of me I cant figure out how much its actually going to cost me in US dollars. Anyone know the approximate value of £51.49 in US currency?

This is a very desirable release for me. It ranks right up there with a Beatles release because I think the album is THAT good. But its the promise of a new 5.1 mix makes me even consider it as I wouldn't be considering it if the only surround was the original QuadraSONIC mix. Still, even with the new 5.1, I'd want to get a few reviews from someone who has heard it before buying (which you can't do with a pre-order). The memories of the 1+ and Pepper let-downs are still a bit too fresh. Maybe Yoko's crew can do a better job with a vintage mix than Giles and company can. Of course, they have the additional difficulties of having to deal with the fingerprints of Phil Spector on the recorded material as well. None of it makes be feel very comfortable, but ill remain optimistic.

There is the theatrical release of the films (albeit in Dolby Atmos) released mid September that should give us a good idea of the new mix. I’m quite optimistic after looking at the trailer. Those films, Imagine & Gimme Some Truth were both called Imagine in the UK! o_O

All very confusing with so much going on regarding this release. :ROFLMAO: But that’s a good thing!

I may end up getting it all. The boxset, the book and the films.... I think it’s great they’re giving us the choice! Such a better way of doing things. Listened to the album again just now. It’s an out and out classic! :phones

:)

"The 5.1’s are no doubt unconventional in that they place the listener smack dab in the middle of the room, surrounded by the musicians where the tracking is taking place, rather than the semicircle amphitheater mode, with the players spread out in front and the ambience generally placed to the side and behind the listener. A wonderful unintended consequence that we found midway through the mixing process is that, in addition to sitting still, another way to listen is to walk around and tune in to the individual instruments. "

This sounds very promising!!!

I wish I liked the content....but between some of the songs and the Yoko Koo Koo involvement:(.. it's just too much to overcome at this point..it looks like they did this package the right way...good thing there are some blockbuster releases heading our way...hope it works out for you:cool:
