Not impressed with the cover art displaying a nude Bardot as anime, what's up with that for a 60-year old film?
The text of the review reveals the answer: more gratuitous exploitation of Bardot as sex symbol.

"There are only a couple of short sequences where Godard's camera quickly studies Bardot's naked body. Ironically, the combined footage was introduced only because the American financiers of Le mépris made it clear to Godard that they did not get what they paid for after they were presented a rough cut of it."

Streaming on the Criterion Channel (as Contempt) with lots of extra features.
However the old Criterion DVD is out of print and hasn't been updated.

Doubtless this new blu ray will be impressive for giant-screen home theater 4K buffs to enjoy Bardot au naturel for a few seconds.

So did anyone take advantage of Amazon Prime Days....I scored Casablanca, Training Day and Edge of Tomorrow: Live, Die, Repeat in 4K and my recent 50% off Criterion 4K discs are trickling in...Malcolm X and Scorsese's After Hours arrived today and 4 more are en route [Godard's Breathless, Adventures of Baron Munchausen, The Fisher King and Thelma and Louise [all 4K].

I'm of the opinion that Showgirls is both a trashy movie and brilliant, but I'm not paying $65 for it.
A stand alone 4K disc without all the hoopla will be available down the pike..probably for about half the price!

I watched this movie recently, it's quite good if you're into art films. It was done in 1967 but doesn't seem dated IMO, it could have been a recent release even.

It very long, and is set in feudal Pagan europe around the onset of Christianity

Currently still on sale at AmazonUS for under $20. Since it was 4K remastered in 2013, wonder if Criterion will ever release a Native UHD4K version in the future?

Is there a 3D with Atmos disc for Avatar?
I have the 3D blu-ray which is excellent but DTS HD sound.
Sadly there’s no really great “definitive” release of Avatar 1 & 2.

1, which I just rewatched has an extended edition that was on DVDs and Blu Rays and is missing here entirely, as well as the disc is only HDR10. The 3D version is not included.

2 is also only in HDR10, and the 3D disc is missing the Atmos.

Both on streaming/digital rental *do* have Dolby Vision and Atmos, but no 3D (though sounds like Apple will be rolling out 3D movies when their Vision Pro headset comes out), and of course a lower bitrate.
