I’ve ordered this about a week ago and it’s ready along with a DVD-A – still waiting for a SACD to come in before they ship my order. It would have been about $200 not including shipping had I ordered just the Box set, but because of the multi disc discount I also get a DVD-Audio and SACD for $200. Problem is because of my ordering options to ship all at once and not all the extra discs were in stock, my order is held up temporarily.

Does anyone know how HMV ships box sets? I hope they don’t just put them in a padded envelope.

This is what's holding up my order as well. I wonder if we would lose the multi-buy discount if we went in and canceled these that we're waiting on (there is a cancel button on each one on my order) so the box set can ship?

The first two Genesis box sets (second and third "eras") I've ordered (SACD/NTSC from HMV.co.jp) arrived in very well-padded boxes. All other orders that just contained jewel-cased releases arrived in the EMS padded mailers, but they always arrive in flawless condition and were "double-bubble" wrapped.

Best,
Josh

Say you order three items as part of a "Buy 3" multi-buy campaign. If you cancel one or more of these items you WILL lose the multi-buy campaign IF you cancel before the original estimated delivery date. HOWEVER, if you choose the "Ship & Cancel" option after the first estimated delivery date has passed and the item is still out of stock, you will NOT lose the promotional discount. Furthermore, if HMV.co.jp cancels one or more of the items (e.g., due to being discontinued by the manufacturer) you will NOT lose the discount. Also, you should be able to change the shipping settings on your order such that you can ship the in-stock items now and the out-of-stock items later for an additional shipping fee. Go to your account and click on your order and I believe the option is available from the "Options" menu.

Hope this helps,
Josh

Yes, they ship ALL orders to the USA via EMS and it takes about 3 to 5 days.
You will have to sign for it as well.
I've ordered many items from them and all were EMS, all got here quickly.
Single discs are in a padded envelope but I've never received a damaged one yet.
(My Genesis arrived in a solid box padded with bubble paks).

They'll give you a tracking # and you can go to USPS.com and enter it in.
Once it hits the USA it will be about a day or so before it hits your front door.

Not bad!

I can't believe it, but the damn thing showed up already! I ordered it on Saturday 11/29, and it was delivered today, 12/4. Less than a week, from Japan to the Eastern USA! That's impressive. (And yes, I did have to sign for it)

I also added all 5 titles to the HiRez Poll section of the forum, including scans of the back covers of the discs' jewel boxes.

Here's a peek at the info sticker for those interested:

Well I ordered mine from music-wow.com and they assured me that i would be getting the version that plays in North America. I received my box today and it is the PAL version with SACD and not the NTSC version I had hoped for. Luckily it was only about $127 US (85GBP) and also lucky that both my Pioneer 563 and 578 play PAL with no problems.

Damn that's quick! May have to reconsider. I went to HMV night before last, put it in the cart and then stalled. Since my resistance has not cosmically (or comically) willed the box into wider availability so far I may bite this bullet....

I'm a bit spooked as when I click on the hmv link on the previous page and "add to cart" I get the box set that says EUR Edition. Jon, did yours say this when you ordered? I don't want to discover that they're now selling the PAL version. What a pain this all is.

That's it. Scroll down the page and you'll see:

In the English page for the title. You may have to click the ENGLISH link, then search for "genesis sacd" to get the page in English.

Amazon has the lite version (no SACD) down to $90 now (I think it was $105 the first time I checked). That seems reasonable to me - not being familiar with the music and not quite ready to spend the extra until I know what I'm getting into.

Okay, I am not a fan of the other 2 boxes. They are basically unlistenable at loud volumes and all the life has generally been sucked out of them with compression and everything turned up to max. After listening to Lamb and Selling England in DTS 96/24 I can say that I love the mixes on these discs. The details brought out in especially the Lamb disc is incredible. Some of the dramatic moments are however mixed at a lower volume than I am used to. For instance, at the beginning of Carpet Crawlers when the drums come in they are buried in the mix. The title song on this discs starts with all speakers in use and has to be heard to be appreciated. The bass is perfect throughout the disc. The cymbals are still a tad slushy in sections, but I can actually listen to this one fairly loud without fatigue setting in. I am very happy with the DTS 96/24. I can't see what SACD would bring to the table over this. It's very clean and has none of that murkiness associated with lossy audio. It is 24 bit afterall though.

I ordered mine 2 days after Jon did from HMV Japan and I just received it 2 days after he did. Shipping seems to be consistent. Packaged very good. Phil.
