Seriously Duuuuuuuuuude - DougThe Knack once sang "Good Girls Don't" straight at Snood and me knew it was about Snood!!:rolleyes::unsure:

Was very emotional piece. Especially since Snood not a girl, so was confused as to why Doug would write a song about me knowing Snood was not female?

That crazy guy!! Long Live Doug Feiger!!
Nah, not to worry Snood, he was just blinded by the light- โ€˜cause Snoodโ€™s so bright๐Ÿ˜Ž

Phoenix : Labelle (SQ decoded by the Surround Master)

Nightbirds (great AF SACD) has "the" hit of "Lady Marmalade" but Phoenix is no 2nd rate stale strawberry jam! for me its the better album of the two and the surround mix is superb. right from the start, the epic title track "Phoenix: The Amazing Flight Of The Lone Star" has all the different vocal layers pop up in the channels in a cool kinda triangular arrangement, with lead in Centre Front, another voice Rear Left and another in Rear Right, its a fab effect!

"we went as far
as we felt like goin',
we went as far
as we felt like...
to ma soul!"

I'm watching CNN on the East Coast right now and that was indeed a doozy of a quake. Stay safe Mike. Freaky that you had a 6.4 followed by a 7.1 a day apart. I missed the quake in San Francisco in '89 by two weeks. The last time I visited my cousin in Gilroy which is right near the San Andreas fault [she actually showed it to me] I was thrown out of bed the morning I was to leave by a jolt [minor quake]. Talk about a sobering wake up call.
Was the 6.4 quake experienced in Dolby Atmos or was it, more likely, akin to 6 channel surround with 4 subwoofers?

Yeah. I have great luck with earthquakes. My wife and I were in San Francisco for the '89 quake. I was at work already in Burbank for the Northridge quake in '94. And now this sequence of quakes. I've gotten pretty good at ducking and covering.

Mellow Madness : Quincy Jones (CD-4 thru the Marantz CD-400B)

"so good..
so good..
mellow, mellow madness..
baby whatcha do
baby whatcha do
so good,
so good.."

definitely sounding different to the JVC & Grundig demodulators.. it's separating stuff out as well as the JVC ever did (sounds like possibly a smidgen better even, i'll look into that and see what's what with some waveform whispering). i can only really describe it as a thicker, darker sound, less bright than the JVC, with what seems like more midrange and bass than the JVC or the Grundig and it needs the volume cranking a bit more than the other two.. interesting.. tbh i wasn't expecting much of an audible difference if any, just fancied the look of it and thought it might be a handy backup! ๐Ÿคฉ

Ain't No 'Bout-A-Doubt It : Graham Central Station (CD-4)

mission accomplished : separation tests complete (y)

sweet baby JAMS motherfigure!
this is the best i've heard this disc demodulate by a country mile!
(tbh i'm listening to it all over again now with just the Rears, no Front channels.. because.. well i don't know why! its fun and they're not splatting to bits! this is probably as good as i'll ever get CD-4.. got it sussed at last (it only took 3 years!! hahaha...) unless i get a linear tracking turntable or something.. hmm.. ๐Ÿค” now there's an idea.. ;)

Magenta - Seven; DVD Dolby 5.1
Beautiful prog with a wonderfully full and immersive mix by Rob Reed. Wish all Dolby Digital 5.1 surround mixes sounded like this!
I used to get pissed off about the different mixes Iโ€™d hear with 5.1 mixes. Nowadays, I feel that it keeps the excitement to hear a different mixing engineerโ€™s take on what sounds best to him or her...or a group...in general. But, if itโ€™s an album that I really love and I donโ€™t like the mix, Iโ€™ll just play the stereo mix more often. Though, sometimes, any surround mix can be better than nothing.
