Sounds like your having fun , quick str,

And boy do I ever wish there was more QUAD Mott!
I too agree the quad mix is ok, not stellar, not bouncing off the walls quad, but what a great performance and yes you do get to here the individual instruments better.

Stéphane Denève conducts Debussy (SACD)

I am really enjoying this 2-disc set of major orchestral works by Claude Debussy. These fine performances are beautifully presented in full, rich surround sound. Not aggressively discrete, but the rear channels are actively involved in the music.

The Marvin Gaye Collection - SACD

This is one I enjoy a lot!

One of my biggest wish is for Universal to release the Quad mix of What's Going On on Blu-Ray or at the very least allow a reissue label to do so either on Blu-ray, DVD-A or SACD. Of course my big dream would be to have a Multichannel release of my favourite Marvin Gaye album: Trouble Man.

I love that one...I picked up a used copy in "like new" condition for $1 + shipping on amazon 2 years ago.....things have gotten out of hand since then HERE

Johann Sebastian Bach : The Keyboard Concertos - 2 (SACD).

Angela Hewitt (piano)
Australian Chamber Orchestra
Richard Tognetti (conductor)

This SACD and its pair (vol.1) offer excellent performances of these concertos on a modern piano. The orchestra is given an immersive surround mix.

Good grief..! :yikes You could pick this thing up everywhere for peanuts.. Universal are total idiots for not reissuing this on Blu-ray.. and they should do some more hits compilations in surround, people love them, as proven by the success of AF's Bread, Doors, Family Stone...

Housecleaning to a little Surround music.

Elton John - s/t - SACD

followed by

David Bowie - The Rise & Fall... - SCD

Next up, one that the Postman delivered 30 seconds ago:

Deep Purple - Machine Head - UK SACD

Pursuing my Surround afternoon with:

Elton John - Honky Château - SACD
The Rolling Stones - Sympathy For The Devil - SACD
R.E.M. - Around The Sun - DVD-A (love the Elliot Scheiner mix!)

When I listened to Peachtree Road earlier today I was on my computer doing other things and playing it at low listening levels...after seeing your post I put it back on at high levels...it does have some sections that seem brighter now at higher volume levels..I wouldn't call it "poor"...just not up to the earlier EJ surrounds..it's more a "blended" sound that sharply individual sounds on some parts of songs..BUT I still love the songs..

I gave "Peachtree Road" another listen over the weekend, the songs aren't as 'bad' as I remembered them, so its gone up in my books, though not up as far as the early EJ, but that is a high bar to get over!

I bought that disc day of release and instantly put in the shelf. I'll have to revisit...

Miles Davis - In A Silent Way - Japan SACD

Can you offer any insight as to the merits of this version against any other versions? I'm always looking for a definitive version of this, my original vinyl is getting tired and I'd sooner not spring for an original all over again if I can get a lovely SACD of it!

It was the cheapest of the two Multichannel SACDs, which is why I bought it. I'll be able to give you my impressions once I've heard both as I have the US 2003 SACD coming shortly so I'll compare them. I think they both feature the same Mark Wilder mix but the US was mastered by Darcy Proper, whilst the Japan was mastered by Mark Wilder (based on the info I found online). The US disc is single layer whilst the Japan is hybrid.

You definitely should revisit it. It's definitely not as good as the other classic 6 also on SACD from a content standpoint, but the mix and fidelity are absolutely superb.
