So my copy of the Thompson Twins Into the Gap has the instrumental version of "Doctor! Doctor!" substituted for the version with vocals on the 5.1 mix. I've already asked for a replacement. Anyone else having this issue?
Yep, this is a problem with all of the discs -- also, in the 5.1 mix of No Peace For The Wicked, the right front speaker suddenly goes silent for several seconds about a minute into the song.

Paul at SDE knows of the issues, and he said he was going to talk to BMG this week about how to proceed, but as of this moment, there's no replacement program in place.

Two albums in quad , 5.1, and Atmos :

GONG You , with both quadraphonic mixes , PYE and Westlake Audio , from one half of the album including the 4.0 upmix for the other album half.

Jefferson Airplane Surrealistic Pillow , quad tracks , including upmix in quad for the * incomplete tracks.(still in stereo).

Watching utube , and wondering if these two groups s/b in surround;

Manfred Manns Earth Band (70's albums)*

The Kinks (70's output)

*I know that Manfred Manns albums did a switch up and really got into prog rock in the 70's,
Also they have at least two mega hits in "Blinded By The Light" and
"Don't Kill It Carol", ......"You Angel You"might be considered as well.

I've already mentioned upthread that (to my knowledge) all of Manfred's multitracks got lost in the infamous late 80s Workhouse fire. The albums that could be remixed would therefore be the few less classic ones (or the supposedly upcoming new album, though that's been in the works for so long I'm not sure we'll ever see it).

One act I can't recall seeing mentioned on SDE or here but that struck me as fitting into the series would be Cock Robin. They had a couple of great singles, at least, not sure if their albums hold up but I haven't heard a song by them I dislike.

I saw "Babygirl" at the theater this weekend and the film feature two mainstream songs. INXS' "Never Tear Us Apart" and Geo. Michael's "Father Figure". Though I have the former in it's multichannel Kick box, now I really want to see Faith released in multichannel Atmos by SDE. "Father Figure" sounded so good in the theater, plus it is a great song as is that whole album.

Not a wide array here, but this would probably fill out my wishlist. Most of my listening is singer-songwriter stuff that wouldn't suit, so this isn't the most imaginative roster...
  • Daft Punk: Random Access Memories (original and drumless)
This is the only release on my list I genuinely believe has a chance. I love both of these mixes. Large enough audience but with a cult-like fanbase, pop sensibility that bridges generations and styles.

  • The Beatles: Revolver and Get Back: The Rooftop Concert-- this needs no explanation and I have no expectation. (Ditto any McCartney & Harrison streaming-only Atmos for the same reasons.)

  • George Harrison: Dark Horse (Best of)
While I prefer Cloud 9, this would get some key tracks from that album, from his solo era, and a few exclusive tracks (particularly "Poor Little Girl" and "Cheer Down"). While I don't think this title stands a chance, I do hold out hope for some of his catalog.

  • Traveling Wilburys: Vol. 1
I'd never have expected any Jeff Lynne 80s/90s but with Cloud 9 on streaming (even if of questionable, uh, provenance and quality)... maybe? I mean, it bridges the 70s with some of the 80s sheen Paul is into... in a Dad Rock way, that is.

  • Emmylou Harris: Wrecking Ball
One of my favorite albums of all time, this Lanois production could really replicate how the album was produced. Live basic tracks performed in front of you with his ambient layers around you. Chances? There are multiple reasons to believe Time Out of Mind was an outlier and will be the only album Lanois has touched to get the Atmos streaming/SDE treatment.

  • Bob Dylan: Oh Mercy
(hopefully with bonus tracks of omitted tracks such as "Series of Dreams," "Dignity," and "Born in Time"). Again, with Lanois, I doubt it. A shame because... -->

  • <-- Peter Gabriel: Us (or more likely So)
These have excellent Lanois production. Maybe Gabriel's surround experience and SDE's '80s bent might be enough to force Lanois' hand?

  • R.E.M.: Murmur
We're past their normal 25th anniversary schedule but Atmos is streaming. Slap it on a disc and take my money.
While I actually do believe everything above has at least a 1% chance, here's my "never get your hopes up when casting a vote" list:
  • R.E.M.: Document
They're my favorite band, so. I mean, Document has a hard-to-get 5.1. I doubt Steven Wilson would do it, but he'd do a great job retaining the character while maybe taming some harshness... and bringing it to Atmos. I think Out of Time, Up, and Reveal would all sound wonderful in Atmos, but I've been spoiled enough to get them in 5.1 (twice!)... and only Out of Time has even the slightest chance.

  • Moby: Play
So many textures... but something tells me its production is baked in ways that wouldn't work. Others know better and I'd be ecstatic to be wrong.

  • Wilco: Summerteeth
I wouldn't even think of suggesting this, but their prime albums deluxe treatments came before the Atmos floodgates really opened so I could see one of their albums finding their way.

Yankee Foxtrot Hotel is probably their Blonde on Blonde/Sgt. Pepper, but I'm more of a Highway 61/Revolver guy so this is a dream. The production has enough going on I bet it would be great (certainly better than fellow alt. country artist Lucinda Williams's excellent Car Wheels on a Gravel Road's so-so Atmos stream... but I'll take that too!)

  • Jerry Goldsmith: Star Trek: The Motion Picture
I may have misunderstood but my understanding is that Mike Matessino has crafted an Atmos mix of the score itself using the many tracks he restored for the recent film update. The 4k release has a (lossy) isolated stereo mix. Williams's Superman: The Movie's restoration might be up to the task as well.

I mean, I'd also love a Star Wars and/or Empire release but those masters are a mess; there's never been a great stereo mix and the Atmos mixes streaming on Apple have their moments... but something feels off.

Others could well argue that Lord of the Rings deserves and is ready for the treatment; not my thing... but would be a fantastic way to test the market!
